Although my figures say something else, the new strategy of the government is just to deny that there is a double figure inflation.
The inflation according to my figures is above 25% now. The last month the price of berbere was lowered from 75 birr to 60 but that is still more than a 100 percent raise compared with three months ago. Because of this, the costs of living has increased again. Cooking oil, serrategna, butter have become more expensive.

And telling the truth is not the strongest point of this government. They tried to convince us that the beggars were glad to return home. Well today a girl from Tigray, whom I did not see for a while, had probably made the trip back, because her toddler came begging for money while she watched from a distance. This while in the newspaper the state minister for labour, Woizero Zennebu Taddesse claims, that all Tigrayen beggars are bussed back home. She also claims that 78% of the beggars are landowners, so integration should not be a problem. Well there are no landowners in Ethiopia and local asra ant cadres can take the land one tillages with a snip of the finger or leave you without fertilizer if you are not loyal enough.

So the propaganda and the reality on the ground are as usual two complete different things. The number of beggars being transported out of town was 90,000 according to this minister. Well then the amount of beggars in reality will be over 200,000 because I and everybody else still see a lot of people depending on our generosity.
