Ethiopian troops awarded UN peacekeeping medals while celebrating new Millennium
UNMIL | PR 134
Zwedru, Liberia – Nearly 1,800 Ethiopian troops serving with the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) have been presented with UN Peacekeeping medals for their invaluable contribution to the peace process at a ceremony that coincided with celebrations of the Ethiopian new Millennium – based on the Julian calendar.
“The uniqueness of your calendar demonstrates the uniqueness and richness of your history, as one of the oldest independent nations in Africa and the world,” said the outgoing Special Representative of the Secretary-General, (SRSG) Mr. Alan Doss. He congratulated the Ethiopian contingent in UNMIL and expressed his sincere appreciation for the valuable work they have accomplished. “From the outset, this Mission has relied on your contingent to provide security in six of Liberia’s counties in the south eat of the country. He further added: “You have also played an important role in patrolling Liberia’s border with the Ivory Coast to avoid any spillover of problems from that country into Liberia. “The work that you have accomplished here will not be forgotten by the Liberian people, you will be part of their history too.”
Ethiopian peacekeepers operate a Level One Hospital, rendering medical services not only to the staff of UNMIL, but also to thousands of Liberians in addition to undertaking humanitarian projects such as rehabilitation of roads, bridges and school infrastructure. They have also assisted in the monitoring and reporting of any illegal movements of Liberia’s natural resources, such as rubber, timber and precious minerals. Ambassador Doss paid special tribute to the Ethiopian Contingent Commander, Colonel Kahsay Mekonen for his leadership.
Speaking on behalf of the citizens of Zwedru and Grand Gedeh County, County Superintendent, Christopher Beh Bailey thanked the troops and Mr. Doss in particular. “You deserved this honor as you have not only kept the peace in Grand Gedeh County, but also continued to render humanitarian services to the people of this land.” Mr. Bailey, in reference to Mr. Doss’ imminent departure to the Democratic Republic of the Congo as the new SRSG there, thanked him for all the work he has done to help people of his county in particular and Liberia as a whole.
The medal award ceremony was also attended by UNMIL’s Force Commander, Lt. Gen. Chikadibia Isaac Obiakor, the Director of Administration, Mr. Stephen Lieberman; UNMIL’s Chief of Staff, Brig.-Gen. Emmanuel Quist; Sector IV Commanding Officer, Brig.-Gen. Mulugeta Behre and other UN and Government officials.

‘Ethiopian troops awarded UN peacekeeping medals while celebrating new Millennium’
Ladies and Gentlemen, here is the Ethiopian Government stand and they were saying all along for the past centuries. Peace flourishes by dialog not by war. So lets all of us try to contribute peace to flourish in our region.
GOD BLESS TO ALL PEACE LOVERS!
Gobezoche…….i love the Ethiopian Defence Forces……as one Korean war vet American said once about Ethiopians fighting along side of him in that war ” Ethiopians are Lean and Mean"……i couldn’t agree more. Now let’s go and finish off Esyasy and his cronies in sommalia.

It says “You deserved this honor as you have not only kept the peace in Grand Gedeh County, but also continued to render humanitarian services to the people of this land.” Mr. Bailey
Guess what! That is exactly why we are now in Somalia.
STOP it! This is really killing Issai-ASS and the Diaspora puppets.
Congratulations to Ethiopian soldiers: you made us and Ethiopia proud. Thank you for your great scarifies for your country and for the love of peace.
I am glad to see the proud Ethiopian army (woyane army as the wicked the diaspora calls yhem)honoured by the UN.
The Diasporas will be enraged with this. The cursed, traitor diasporas.
God bless the mighty Ethiopian force.
Any country that takes its soldiers to a foreign country is given this medal. It is nothing special to Meles cannon foders. We will give them the medal when they respect the people in Addis. If they can kill their own people, then they are nothing but dictator’s sword.
Our army need to think for the good of our country and not kill its citizens.

In the great tradition of our forces in Korea and Congo, our troops have once again excelled in their international defense and peace keeping work. We should be proud of them. Unlike the anti Ethiopian-unity forces propagated by Elias Kifle of Ethiopian review, these are men who stand for Ethiopia come rain or shine. They have never been accused of raping those they fight or those they protect. They come from all parts of Ethiopia and make our country proud. Even when our foreign enemies don’t accuse our troops of rape and pillage, Ethiopia’s own sons like Elias Kifle and his cult followers call them by such dirty name just because they hate the current government. We all know that governments come and go but Ethiopia and Ethiopians will always be around to destroy those who wish to eliminate our beloved country from the face of the earth.
Elias Kifle proposes openly that the opposition in Ethiopia should form a coalition to defeat the Ethiopian Armed forces. This coalition of betrayers, he said, will consist of Shabia, ONLF, OLF, the Islamist forces of Somalia and a faction of CUD that Elias is the mouthpiece of. I believe the faction may be KIL which Elias has been lauding as the hope and salvation of Ethiopia. Elias also agitates for the recognition of Ethiopian Orthodox renegades who want to run the Ethiopian church by a fictitious synod from the USA. His next quest may be to appoint Muslim leaders from America for the Muslim population in Ethiopia.
Long live Ethiopian unity protected by our armed forces no matter who may be the political leaders.
Great. They deserve it. Their won government should even do more, save their lives.
Hopefully, the world one day will form an army organization like the UN for example, to rescue countries from dictators and military rulers to deter them before setting their foot.
This also will give a chance to the subjects to choose their own government they want peacefully since they do not have guns and tanks to fight against dictators like Meles , Mengistu, and Mobutu, Idi Amin and Khmer Rouge .
