It is unfortunate situation for Ethiopia but we need to stay the course, it is neither in the interest of the Somalian civilian nor for Ethiopia to leave the situation at this point.

As usual there is a smart and arrogant personality combined in Mr. Zenawi, while his smarts outweigh his arrogance, he can push people to the limit with his words and sometimes his arrogant attitude causes the rest of the country to pay for it. The insurgence in Somalia is more than a few thugs, it is very important that we re-assess the situation and make a decision whether we can resolve the Somali problem or not instead of creating more radicals in the process of a draging civil war between Somalians.

Somalia and Ethiopia fought 2 wars and Ethiopians should not be blind about this. What Meles did to Somalia is not good. We fought the Islamic courts to support the current president of Somalia and to fulfil America's wishes of destroying them. Why are the Somali people against our troops?.
1. We are supporting a blood sucker who has been a warlord for 40 years.
2. We brought back to Mogadishu the warlords who kept the Somali people hostage for the last 15 years. Not only are they in Mogadishu but they have been made mayors, ministers and the like.
3. The last reason which plays not a big part is the past history of Ethiopia and Somalia.
Meles is not going to be there for ever but Ethiopia and Somalia will be living side by side forever. So, we need not extend this occupation of Somalia. Now it has become a civil war not Islamists propaganda we are seeing on some websites.
As Ethiopians we need to raise our voices against anything that will have negative impact on our nation in the long run.
I love Ethiopia and I respect our leaders but this is not in the interest of our Ethiopia and its Soldiers.

The Somali people are Clansmen and the formation of a transitional government that is democratic and secular is not some thing whose time has come. The IUC is created by the wealthy clans leaders and business men. They do not want to share with the resources with the common people. The Islamists are reactionary clansmen and their extreme sharia law is not applicable to the wealthy, it is a means of controlling the masses. No wealthy man will be stoned flogged, or his hand severed, so they orchestrated the IUC before democracy takes root, they chose the better of the two evils. At the same time the youth have bought the extremism and blood shed which has become a fad or some thing to ape in the Islamic world; until it is to late they are the first to perish or become disabled for life.
The Ethiopian Defense Forces should stop fighting a loosing battle, of an urban war, if you kill you loose if you don't you loose. It is a double jeopardy. At the time Woyane sent troops to Somalia I forsaw that they will face Iraq-style insurgency in the future.Now they are trapped in Somalia in such a way that they can't stay or withdraw.
This is exactly similar to what happened to the US in Iraq.

I agree with the clan leader's statements. Many Somalis, unfortunately, don't find Ethiopia as a "welcoming" country. Its more of a foe and the fact that it is closely aligned to Somalia's TFG makes room for suspicious remarks by the Somali nationals. Furthermore, Ethiopia is biased when looking at Somalia because it is a boarder country. The African Union should have taken charge of the situation years ago, perhaps we could have avoided everything else.

Zenawi miscalculated very badly on Somalia. He is facing increasing criticism from the international community for indiscriminate attacks on civilians. He and his mercenary army commanders in Somalia are war criminals and will face the ICC at the Heague in the future. His puppet TFG official has said that 80% of the country is now outside government control and is not safe. The puppet official also warned that Islamist insurgents had regrouped and were poised to launch a major strike. Zenawi is now trapped. As he admitted to his rubber stamp parlama he can not leave and at the same time he can not stay. BOGGED DOWN IN SOMALIA.

Very true indeed. Unlike Ethiopia were only Woyanne and their collaborators are armed,in Somalia, many people are armed and will not allow Woyanne gangs to run around shooting people freely.

Somali Land and Punt land want to go their own way as the Ethiopians let go their brothers the Eritreans, till they cool down from emotional exuberance and come to their senses. Punt Land is soon going to be an oil producing country and it is bigger than Kuwait to be independent and filthy rich than suffer with their brethren to the north in Iraq.
The AU, and the UN should recognize a democratic country in Somali land, they don't have to wait until Mogadishu clans sort out their differences. They need legitimacy as a member of the UN, that will enable them to trade, and get bilateral and multi lateral aid. If at a later time conditions permit, a federation could be possible as it will be with Eritrea and Ethiopia, who can't afford to be separate and stable.

The more Ethiopian troops stayed in Somalia,the more the Somali's people will be united, the more will grow their nationalism and their patriotic against Ethiopia.

They don't care who's is the PM or the leader of ethioia.They don't differentiate Tigray or Amara, they just Say Ahmaro is our enemy in which they Mean that Ethiopia is the enemy of Somalia.

you have a good point.......Puntland and somaliland have huge oil deposits.....southern somalia has more oil and gas, fertile lands, oceans than somaliland and puntland put together....Somalis are hemegenious people and cannot be saparated under any circumtance........until our dumb brothers in the south get their acts together, somaliland and puntland are already busy developing their regions without any external aid........they developed their regions with diaspora money..........belive me i was their last summer it is amazaing there....you should go and visit.....their are a lot of Ethiopian brothers and sisters there working and living just like very other somali.

Meles lived in Somalia for years before he took power. They gave him Somalian passport to travel around the world. They did everything for him. Now he is paying them back. The soldiers fighting there in Somalia killed innocent life back home. These soldiers don't represent Ethiopians since they are murdere back home too. So a lot of disaster is inevitable in the near future.

We must exit Somalia. There is no question about that. What must be done is to one more time request a replacement from the UN/AU forces, if not, the Ethiopians must go home.

The best way to solve the Somali problem is to let the Somali people decide. It is a no brainer.
