Ethiopia - A palm tree at Cairo airport saved Ethiopian Cargo
"The B747 in question with the logo of Southern Air Inc is a cargo aircraft operating on behalf of Ethiopian Airlines under the wet lease agreement with Southern Air Inc. It was not a passenger aircraft.
The freighter aircraft operating on Sunday December 16, 2007 from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Brussels with perishable cargo had a stop over in Cairo International Airport for refueling. The aircraft after landing safely slid against the terminal building office while taxiing in.
All the five crew onboard the freighter aircraft were safe.
Cause of the accident is under investigation".

I have not seen anything about a Palm tree ?
those cargo pilots must be drunk. the
re is no acft will slide during taxing opration in such dry and sunny
areas unless hydrolic system or emerg
engy brake system failer.or they may
being kept thier both engine running
at above idle which can over run normal braking and emergency brake system.
my conculusion is, they should be tested for soberity.or full knoweldge
of that paticular acft and thier time
in cockpit with the rating.
So, where is the palm tree connection?
“I have not seen anything about a palm tree?”
May be they chopped it off and kept is in the cargo with the other “perishables”
Your panctuation is a sign of mental instability and intellectual laziness.
Suck the grammar up boy! Guto Ras.
Since this is a wet lease aircraft. The pilots aren’t Ethiopians. Wet lease of an aircraft means the lease of the aircraft is along with the pilots. I think Ethiopian needs to get a through safety of this aircraft. Bad reputation comes from bad events like this.
Thank You Jesus.
I’m still waiting for someone to come up with something wich co-relates this incident with “woyanes” subjugation of the people.. CUDs are you around?
So the cargo was loaded I assume flowers since that is the hot stuff and called “perishable". UMMMMMMM I am wondering that the pilot nearly missed the building which probably would have ended his and also some of the crews lief and the flowers would have to be hauled to thier destination with a diffrent airway bill. So I am wondering who is/was perishable on the crago? Ethiopian airlines is a pride to those who have no pride to begin with. Sell that airlines to the hieghest bidder and build a cross country hwy from moyale to adigrat (NW) and from gambela to Ogaden (NE) and let all Ethiopian enjoy the ride. Hauling 95% white ass, 3% african and 2% ethiopian privilaged will not creat a pride. Or you still can sell the airlines to the private owner and keep your squashable pride intact by the flag it carries.
Long live EPDRF and my salute to those who perish for the freedom and Democracy we are enjoying now in Ethiopia.
Guttu has pointed out the most possible cause of the accident with a reasonable knowledge of aviation technics. I wonder why you jump on slunder and react that way. It shows what kind of person you are and shame on you. What makes me sad about the whole situation is first of all those who made the deal of leasing such old aircraft must take the blame. Such occurance is not only damaging the image of the Airline, but also if continued will cause unexpected disasator. The leasing deal should have been taken seriously and made a different dicision.
Accident could happen any times. Thanks god it was a manner accident.
All of you who questioned the PALM TREE … the building is made of Palm Tree, got it?
I think the pilots were busy at looking the beautiful Egiption girls so they tilted the plane to one side. They forgot to put balancing weight to otherside (just kidding)
plane was trying to consume palm tree in stead of fuel, for inviromental reason what’s good news.was 30 meter tree enagh for one trip?
