This is good news. private media will provide a variety of ideas in the country. It will be better to the ethiopian people to listen to radio other than the government run and the diaspora radio who doesn't have any idea what is going on inside the country. I hope the new radio stations will provide a fair and non bias radio.

Slowly but surely Ethiopia is going forward. Now, what we need to do is that protect and guard these progress by any cost.

I read in other website that Ethiopia will export electric power to Kenya, Djibuti and Sudan starting 2009. Sorry, Eritrea can't afford to buy anything from any country. They can use their "Gura" as power. I am still waiting for to hear " Let's Unite With Ethiopia Party" from Eritreans.

Curtailing press freedom is the main weapon by which dictatorial governments try to hide their dirty job. Haile Selassie and the Derge did the same, and TPLF/woyane is simply saying business as usual.
In democratically governed countries, opposition parties and the free press are first of all the means by which government excesses are checked and brought under control and secondly it gives the people the right to choose between differing political views. Dictators on the other hand want to rule a blind and deaf and puppet nation by controlling what it should know and should not know.
Sustaining power by all means is the main business of dictatorial governments. Every thing said and written against their misrule is treason against the state, because they believe in absolute authoritarian rule. They are the state and state belongs to them.
When we were children we were taught to say “let our emperor rule for an other thousand years”. The Derge came to rule for a hundred years and TPLF/woyane hopes to do the same.
Our enlightened rulers want to lead by the hand those whom they call the blind masses, which of course includes all those who are not loyal supporters of their political organization. What an irony. Why do dictators talk of democracy when they are still in the jungle and forget even the word when they enter the palace? The truth is, they are the other side of the same coin that ruled the country before them. Suppressing the feeling of the people will only create a pressure that will explode in their faces in the future.
Dictators are afraid of mass enlightenment and scrutiny in the light of the day, because they are not true to their people and they have always some dirty thing to hide. Who introduced ethnic politics, and who wants to use it as an excuse to stamp on press freedom? The same people, the same government.
If the TPLF/woyane government believes that it can control for ever the Ethiopian people by closing its eyes and its noses, thus by not allowing it to see the reality and breath the air of true freedom, and is satisfied with what they can feed the people through the mouth, they must know that they are making a very big mistake. Our people are not animals that live only on their stomach but they also have feelings and aspirations. That is why they want economic development, democracy, freedom and justice, all at the same time, today, not tomorrow.
The government should first of all free itself from its fear of the people and then should let our citizens free; to be able to think, write, work and assemble freely! Ethiopians really do not care who rules them as long as they are justly ruled!
