Ed's Note: The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) summit will end on Friday, September 26. nazret has contacted CGI to confirm if Meles Zenawi will attend as was first reported by ENA, and thus far we have not heard back from them. The official website has a list of featured attendees and the Prime Minister's name is not among them. Participants of the summit include Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Minister of Health, and Eleni Z. Gabre-Madhin, Chief Executive Officer, Ethiopia Commodity Exchange. See here
Ethiopia - Meles Zenawi in New York City
Ethiopian senior government delegation led by Prime Minister Meles Zenawi left for New York, USA, earlier on Tuesday to attend the Clinton Global Initiative Summit, ENA, the state-run news agency, reports. Ethiopia's Prime Minister last attended the Clinton Global Initiative Summit in 2007.
Leaders of African and Asian countries, representatives of non governmental organizations and prominent bodies are expected to attend the summit, now in its third year.
The three-day summit will include plenary sessions during which more than 1,000 attendees from 72 countries will debate and determine the best ways to take action against pressing global problems.
Education, climate change, health and poverty reduction are the major agendas.
