The manufactured statistical figures by the Dedebit Mafia economists are not based on the scientific method but rather political considerations. The step increase in size of the population is understandable, but the drastic increase in the Christian population is very hard to sallow.

This data has most likely been cooked. First, for someone who walked on its street, it is hard to believe that Finfine's population just constitutes 3.5% of the national population; this is perhaps a delibrate underestimation given that this is the opposition's base. I think this is a well-done census and appears realistic. Coming to the religion composition of the people, muslims represent about 33% is also accepatable. Some muslim friends are misleading just by looking only the muslim prayers at Addis Ababa stadium and say muslim in Ethiopia are more than 60% and sometimes 80%. That is not true! First of all, most of the christians are living in the highlands and are exteremely densely populated in provinces like, Wolaita, Sidama, gamogofa, kembata, Hadiya, Kaffa, wollega, Shewa, Gonder, Gojjam, Tigrai, Partly wollo. On the other hand, most of muslim dominated areas like, Harerge, Bale, Illubabor, afar and Ogaden are sparsely populated and you can see few houses after you travel several miles. so, for some of us who traveled to all corners of the country, it is not surprising to agree with the results of this census.

Let's not fight, it's none sense if two bold me fight over a comb. We don't have believable source. The Ethiopian Statistics allocates a huge budget, sends people for census. The poeple who are being asked lie, cos they don't understand the aim (eg. some think they'r going to help them if they tell them as being very poor), the people who take the census are likely to write wrong data (either being lazy to go to the filed, or deliberately writing biased thing), and after all these, the government gets it, takes more than a year to make up a "reasonable decission" where they make up their own data and announce "the result". Do you guys have any idea how much the proportion of tribes, religiouse groups, people in locations like Addis fluctuate? Yes, that doesn't happen naturally, somebody is making it up. If we don't get the truth, why count us anyway?

There is every indication that, for reasons only he knows, the prime minister talked the census down to this level. The initial realease as well as all of the priliminary data leading to the census was pointing to a population in the order of 80 to 83 million. I recall a video clip where the PM was discussing longterm food security, land policy and population growth when the interviewer pointed to the 82 million preliminary population data, the PM jumped on him and instead of adressing the key question, he hammerd him on the population data. He was adamant that when the final tally comes out, it will show more like 77 million.

The census office after a lot heming and hawing, attended to his wishes and released 77 million.

Regardless of these numbers being accurate or no the Ethiopians have proved to be doing an excellent job on bed. I also believe that they work hard in the field as well.
However, as an outsider there is one big problem I see with the Ethiopians(keep in mind things are some times clearer when you are observing from outside) : subservience to oppressive rulers. Who else would kowtow under feudal emperors for 3000 years and would stil be proud of it?. So, the first solution is to stand up for your justice.

Well – Just to clarify my stand on population growth, although I don’t believe we are 77 million, I believe population increase is vital to strengthen national economy as long as we have a healthy, determined, productive, educated population.

Having strong indigenous workforce is a dream to most western countries as their population is aging, mostly infertile and decreasing rapidly. We are lucky to have such fertile nation, we must work hard to educate our people and utilize all our vast resources. Having said that, the humongous increase within 14 years, seems to be overly exaggerated.

The most astonishing part is Addis population being so downgraded; this is just beyond belief. Most disgraceful part is an increase in imported religions (Pentecostal and Co). But believe it or not, the current economical crisis will ease this problem as most people can't afford to retire at least for a few more years.
However, when we come in a case of some poor countries like Ethiopia, overpopulation has been one of the biggest problems. It takes a long time to change this many people to educated productive society. India is a good example, but they still have a long way to go. If I am right, they started this project, educating the population, in the 1950s, I think. So in my view, the most immediate solution would be educating the population on birth control options. This can kill 2 birds in one stone b/c it can also help on the spread of HIV AIDS.

In both religions,why more peoples turning to their religions and some of them becoming more fanatic? I think these questions were needed to be answered and explained.
I thought it might be a good ideas to understand of what motivating rapidly the people's joining their churches and mosques throughout the country.Unlike the pastimes,today the peoples of Ethiopia are more humble and religious and were all praying differently for the help of the God/Allah.However,is it their prayers have same and one objectives or its one that contradicting to each other one? we don't know that one yet.Is it a good and betterment for them or is it a bad worst for Ethiopia?
