Ethiopian Airlines Announces New Flights to Malabo

Ethiopian Airlines is pleased to announce the 2009 summer schedule that heralds the opening of new services to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

Malabo is the capital of Equatorial Guinea, a country that has been one of the fastest growing economies in the world in the past decade. The country is divided in two parts – the Continental Region, located between Cameroon and Gabon, and a series of islands where Malabo is located. Equatorial Guinea is unique in that it is the only country in Africa where the primary official language is Spanish.

Ethiopian will launch three weekly flights to Malabo effective June 02, 2009, operating with a mix of B767-300 and B757-200 aircraft. The three weekly flights will be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and will provide fast and easy connections between Malabo and most major cities in the Middle East and Asia – including Dubai, Kuwait, Beirut, Bombay, Bangkok, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Beijing.

Ato Busera Awel, Vice-President Commercial said, “This new service is being launched in line with Ethiopian firm commitment to connect Africa with the rest of the world, and our flights to Malabo go a long way in connecting another city in Africa to the major capitals of the world.”

To celebrate these new flights, Ethiopian announces special bonus mileage offers in its ShebaMiles program for a limited time. For each roundtrip flown on Ethiopian’s new flights to or from Malabo, earn 2500 bonus miles in Economy class and 5000 miles in Cloud Nine business class. Use earned ShebaMiles to earn free trips or upgrades on Ethiopian Airlines or our partner Lufthansa. This offer is valid through 30 November 2009, and other restrictions apply. If you’re not already a member of the ShebaMiles program, sign up at www.ethiopianairlines.com/en/shebamiles/signup.aspx.

It is very nice to see Ethipian extending its service to other African countries, but its funny Malabo, Equatiorail guinea couldn't be find in the list of countries where Ethiopian provides service. It is only 2months before the lunch of service to this country, but passengers can't book their flight because the option is not availble. Ethiopian Airlines be agressive
