Ethiopia - Revenue authority press for cheaper cash register machines
By Muluken Yewondwossen
The Federal Revenue and Customs Authority (FRCA) invited cash register machine manufacturers to open an office here in Addis Ababa so as to make the machines accessible to all, Capital learned. Currently, the highly sought machines [by the authority] are imported via a local company, Petram Plc.
At a press briefing held on March 31, Melaku Fenta, director of FRCA, told journalists that his office has communicated with reputed cash register machine producers requesting them to supply their product directly through a representative office they can set up here. "Two of them have already shown interest," he confirmed.
The Italy based, Fasy International SPA is one of the manufacturers dealing with FRCA to open a branch office in Ethiopia.
