An international airport constructed in Humera, Ethiopia at a cost of over 182 million birr was officially inaugurated on Sunday.

The Humera International Airport, situated in northwest Ethiopia was official opened for flight after three years of construction.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Transport and Communication State Minister, Diriba Kuma said the airport would help Ethiopian to get its agricultural products from the area to international markets as fast as possible.

The state minister said the construction of the airport was aimed at helping the agriculture sector in the region where maize, sesame and other oilseeds have widely been produced.

According to the state minister, the airport would also help Ethiopia to facilitate its communication with border countries in the area.

The construction was carried out by the Ethiopian Airports Enterprise, a government institution responsible for construction and administration of airports across Ethiopia.

Enterprise General Manager, Shiferaw Alemu said on the event that the government covered the construction fund.

The manager said the airport has been built with modern runway to land present-day huge aircraft including antonove 124.

According to the manager, a three kilometer long and 45 meter wide runway has been constructed.

Some investors and residents of the town expressed their belief that the airport would speed up the growth of the town and the trade interaction.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior government officials including board chairperson of the enterprise, Energy and Mine Minister, Alemayehu Tegenu.

It is known that Woyane has settled more than 600,000 Tigrawai’s in Wolkait Tsegede espcially in Humera and Dansha. In reality, these areas as well as the natives are belong to Gonder. Anyway, the air port is planned for two things: (i) to exploit thiese colonized lands to the optimal level, and (ii) to use this airport as additional airforce base in any eventuality of war with Eritrea. However, woyane is naive since this airport is in reach of even a short-range mortar from Omhajer mountains of the Eritrean border.

International Airport in Mekele ..
Airport upgrade and runway extension in Axum …
International airport at Humera …
Airport here and there in northern part of ‘our’ country

But ..

Existing airports elsewhere are being closed - for instance Kombolcha airport.

A sad state of Ethiopia - or the rest of Ethiopia I should say …

Let me say to those of you who have nothing good to say about the north, so you know we have more than a majestic rocky mountainous landscape. Humera is the agricultural hub of the north and provides Ethiopia and the world with a variety of agricultural stables.

Let alone to have an airport in a long artillery distance, even the distance to Mekele’s Airport was not a threat. Did you know how many fighter planes were distroyed in Mekele, within minutes? Did you know how many commandoes destroyed Ethiopian 30 fighter planes inside Asmara and only one foghter was sacrificed?

Dedeb Hasad Abay Tigrawai, weapons or planes are not the determining factors, it is human’s determination and cause.

yeshiro mentektek shiro Teb iskilibet dires new!

The looting and dismantling of Gondar, in using “Coca Colas’ name” to resettle Abay Tigraians continues.

Aye “Mama EthioPia” besimish sintu tesera!
