Ethiopian Shipping Lines S.C to buy nine vessles
Ethiopian Shipping Lines S.C. (ESL) has signed an agreement with Chinese companies to buy nine vessels which will enable the company to more than double its capacity to 400,000 tons from the current 150,000 tons, the state-run Ethiopian News Agency(ENA) reports.
ESL Managing Director Ambachew Abraha told ENA here Wednesday that the company signed the agreement with the Chinese companies to buy seven general cargo vessels and two tankers at a total cost of more than 290 million USD.
The general cargo vessels and tankers have the capacity to carry 28,000 tons and 41,500 tons each respectively, he said, adding that the vessels would further enhance Ethiopia’s ever-increasing import-export businesses.
Under the agreement, the vessels would arrive in Ethiopia after two years, he said.
He also said that ESL was able to manage tankers with international standard procedures.
The company has secured 109 million Birr during the first quarter of the current Ethiopian fiscal year from transporting more than 730,000 tons of cargoes.
He said the company had already started training staff at the Maritime Training Institute established at Bishefitu Town.
It is to be recalled that The Reporter wrote about this story back in July while ESL and the Chinese companies were in negotiation.
Ethiopia doesn’t even have a port ,yet this guys are talking about adding more vessels. It’s laughable!I’m assuming it’s through djubuti all this would be worked out of .But what if Djubuti doubles its docking fees? What would ethiopian government’s plan B would be?Kissing up to somali land or sudan??
I bet the pirates dont even want to touch this one. It’s probably dont have anything worth nuts. They are buying old junk and rent it to Woyane’s shipment from China.
Do not be Doma / QorQoro Ras! - You are a laughable creature!
Ethiopian Shipping Line (Just like Ethiopian Airlines) is a successful and a very profitable Company - Thanks to the 7% economic growth/Boom. Ethiopia is the only country in East Africa with its own Flag Ship. The Sudan, Kenya, Eri, Djibouti…etc. do not have a single cargo ship / or even YeSar Jelba.
Good Job Ethiopian Shipping Lines!
i assume you are retarded, so i will be very elementery on this. you said to belew,"Do not be Doma / QorQoro Ras! - You are a laughable creature!”
After i read your whole comment and the above statement, we the people of ethiopia awarded to you, officially on nazret.com the Dumbest doma ras award of the millinium! congura brother!
By the way don’t forget the cargo ships tplf awarded to the eriterian government for freeeeee
Doma / QorQoro Ras! It is a big honour from kibrom, please take it.
Dictator melese will have a virtual port, that’s why he is buying this vessles.
Good move! It is a sign of development. The fast development of Ethiopia is amazing. Despite the inflation and other sosial problems, this government is doing a great job. I mean the next move should be to get back Asab by any means neccesary. Long live Ethiopia and all her people Oromo, Amhara, Tigre, gurage, sidama, even Eritrean ethiopian too:-)
I am the oly one who is loughiing about it. hahaha….weyannes SOLD out ethiopia port to their cousin shabia and here we are NO SEA port.Begging Djibouti every year to not to rise the port taxation, and Begging Somaleland not to Rise port taxation,Begging the world for food,Begging ….Begging…that is what Weyanees born for and die for.
Ethiopia marin is now a GOEST ship
like Pirat of Caribian…
Come down people. [gira kegna yalachihu]
Yes ESL is on its way to buy additional vessels. So what is the uproar of belew and the likes.
Yes the Eritreans are gone with our ports (at least for the time being) so how can a human with a sane mind condemn Ethiopia for buying new vessels?
the only reason for crying out loud for such development made by ESL is a pure act of envy and jealousy.
Yes! I believe that such a news is is like cutting the throats of the nemesis of Ethiopia and its current leadership.
So good luck fellas, Go to Hell.
- 5000 km of railway
- up to 500 km of new asphalts for AA
- more than 10000KM of road for Ethiopia
- 9 Additional Vessels
- up to 15 new boeing and Airbus jets
- 100 Km express highway
- 6GW hydroelectric power dams
- more than 50% mobile / wireless penetration in the telecommunication center and others can make you pee a blood but that’s the reality in the ground.
Some people just don’t have any sense of anything. Amazing!:-) Ethiopian Shipping line is expanding too many countries providing services. Why are you guys so confined to the port idea? This is a business world and business’ can be done anywhere and at anytime. Can Ethiopian Shipping Line deliver what Tanzania needs in time than just take the order and deliver it. This is providing service with efficiency. Wake up man! Here you are stuck with the same verbal choice you had when you were a leftist in the 60s and 70s.
I think people have very little information about ESL that it is even superior to some European nations, it have the gray mark of quality. ESL’s success is comparable to that of EAL.
echoing Ato’s statement-ESL is the only successful and profitable flagship carrier bar none in Africa.most of them are have either gone bankrupt or were never existent to begin with.the select few that do exist are european(british) so please give credit where credit is due people…why is it so hard for you to laud on and be proud of anything Ethiopian belonging to these times?we are all proud of our rich history but despite bad things that are going on right now,the kind of developments that Ethiopain and ESL are undertaking are of historic proportions.(oh and note to kibrom, there were no ships left in Assab when the war broke out, stop pulling stuff out of your ahole)
Well put, thank you.
atasking alalkushim, hahahaha
It is good to hear such nice newses, if most of them were not just lies and propogandas.
Who is the beneficiary of all those ships and planes? I have not seen the life of an ordinary Ethiopian improved. I think this is just a tactic by TPLF leaders to loot more money. We know there is some progress but to what cost. The majority of Ethiopians are suffering day in day out, only a few well connected to the current so called leaders are living large. Wake up people!
