Ethiopia - Dashen named top Ethiopian bank
Dashen Bank, which pocketed a quarter billion birr net profit, has now been named best bank of Ethiopia by the Banker, a London based institution. The Bankers listed Dashen at the top segment in Ethiopia's banking sector. They ranked 54 African banks from the same industry.
Dashen became the first private bank to record a net profit of 250 million birr in 2008/9 fiscal year, according to a financial report released in October, 2009.
"The Bankers positioned our bank as first in Ethiopia's banking industry after it examined our deposit mobilization and capital," Lulseged Teferi president of the bank briefed journalists on Wednesday, December 9, 2009.
The bank has mobilized 1.7 billion birr during the 2008/9 year that raised the bank's deposit to 7.9 billion birr.
