Ethiopia based Holland Car Plc plans to build buses
Holland Car Plc announced plan to produce buses to address the acute transportation problem in the metropolis.
Company General Manager Eng. Taddesse Tessema told ENA that the company will establish the manufacturing plant in Burayu area of the Oromia Regional State at a cost of 30 million birr.
Each bus will have capacity to carry 130 passengers. The company will also produce double deck buses with capacity to carry 240 persons , he said.
Eng. Taddesse said the buses will work with biogas.
The first bus, which has the capacity to carry 130 passengers, will commence service in the coming September, 2010.
The company would create jobs for 400 people, he said.
He said the buses will be exported for African countries.
He said the buses, which are currently imported cost over 1.3 to 1.5 million USD.
He said his company is importing spare parts over the last two years and is transformed from car assembly to manufacturing.
The company is producing five to ten cars a day.
Company’s production-site of 20.000 square meters is situated in Modjo, about 65 km South of Addis Ababa.
