Ethiopia - Meles Zenawi quits NEPAD leadership post - PANA reports

Ethiopian PM quits NEPAD leadership post

Source: PANA

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
- Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi Saturday quit as Chair of the NEPAD Heads of State and Government Implementation Committee (HSGIC) and was replaced by Mozambican President Armando Guebuza, sources told PANA. The Ethiopian PM, who has steered the NEPAD since the 2007, quit the post for unspecified reasons.

However, another source said Meles’ decision to quit the leadership of the NEPAD HSGIC may not be final until a final decision is made on whether to extend his tenure during the AU Summit opening in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Sunday.

The Ethiopian leader has led high profile missions on behalf of the continent to several international fora, in his capacity as Chair of the Committee.

The leadership of NEPAD HSGIC offers the state concerned the chance to interact with the world’s most industrialized countries, which have developed a tradition of inviting at least one African leader, usually the one chairing the NEPAD committee, in addition to South Africa, to their annual meet.

Now he realized(from Tunis and Misr) that the West would throw him under the bus no matter what they have given him or wherever they have invited him when the going get tough. Meles, the Adawa Monkey, your days are truly numbered now.

Leave Ethiopian People gracefully NOW.

Hey troll, don't you think your leader Wedi Afom is in more precarious situation than our leader? So, don't worry; Meles will leave forever in every Ethiopian blood so long as he keep punishing you shabians efficiently.

Meles;
Its ok, bro you have given it a good go and it did not work. However like all others that tried to force the issue have traveled the road you are now, and it was a smooth ride so far now its time to get up and walk the rough and ragged mountain.
Good ridden bro, like I said you have tried your best but your best is not enough, so its ok just gather your pride and do your best and hopefully the right thing with the first dedebit wife Azeb.

Cheers,
you will have enough time to argue with Mobarek about Nile soon in Hage.

Naicho,
Meles was/is chosen/forced by Africans to lead them. For NEPAD is in a much stronger position now, than before Meles took over the leadership (in 2007), he can leave his position.
I do agree, his days as a PM are numbered - Until the next election, in 2015. You just have to be a bit petient.

Thanks to wikileaks a revolution is now raging all over the world. The world is never the same as Asnage himself noted. To those bandas and cursed betrayers like woyane, Julian Asange is their ultimate enemy. Because he exposed the ass of woyane naked in betrayal and collusion. Legesse should be ass-kicked out of any African union position. These lousy african dictators must find some other more genuine and honest dictator than Legesse who betrayed them in broad day light by colluding with the west and USA. Woyanes, who historically are known for betraying Ethiopia, for leading the white-colonialist Napier army to Makdala, for colluding with british imperialism to biesiege the mahdists are once again caught in the familiar "Banda job". This mafia, pseudo-expert called Legesse has been exposed by wikileaks to sell the climate negotiation for USA and other western Giga polluters. He offered silence over the climate negotiation in return for ignoring the genocide indictment of Gambellas and 2005 protesters and support and money to oil his tribalist and barabaric junta regime. In addition, of course the settlement is for an undisclosed amount of private money transferred to his bank account in Asia still standing undepleted despite the lavish and insatiable apetite for expenditure and perfumes by wife Azeb Mesfin who travels abroad to commit adultery and to spend. Down with evil and murderous woyane.

Hey, guys do not waist yours and our time. No one has so far been removed from power due to hatred. Whether you like it or not, Meles is Africa’s eye and mind. You may not accept it due to your hatred, but that does not change the reality. Guess what, I do not think African leaders are any less than you – do you think they made a mistake by asking him to represent them? I hope you don’t think he took NEPAD leadership by force. So why try to defy the reality – just admit it and move on.

I start to like Meles Zenawi for simple reasons:
(1)I hate the Diaspora

(2) I hate christian highlanders of Eritrea! Without meles, by now would have been their slaves.

All I want from Meles is to librate the Afar and the Kunamas from the hands of the snake Hamasiens!

All Ethiopians should support self determination up to secession for Kunama and Afar. If you know what I mean. I want to see a tiny land locked free and independent State of Hamasien!

Meles, Meles, you screwed up big time. You land locked an ancient country. Ethiopia had a sea port before Jesus was born. You slammed the door on her in a matter of days. Man, you committed a crime that will never be erased from the memory of every ethiopian. What you have done to that country is so deep, it is imprinted in our DNA. Please, go. Just go away. Is Meles suggesting he is out next election? KKKKKK! It is over. You missed all your opportunities. People of Africa are tired of dictators. NO five year terms... You cannot dismiss your cabinet since you did it. You have nothing to say except to leave the power to the people of Ethiopia.

This is the first sign of crack among the TPLF. Meles is on the verge of collapse. The nightmare his going through is immense. Let us keep up the pressure and he will resign from all the self appointed posts in the country. I do not want we go back to the old system. we have to show that we are resilient people who overcome any difficulties. our last 120 years colonisation by different groups is a stark sign that we ethiopian could bring a meaningful change to the country and the region.

Both Ethiopia, Somalia and Eritrea need change. Meles is the mother for the AL shabab taking hold of somalia. He is the brain behind the creation of an extremist element in somalia to justify his presence in Addis ababa. Most of the current leader of Al Shabab were recruited in the beginning of 90s and sent to somewhere for training. I used to leave during that time in Harar and I knew a friend of my friend disappearing and coming back for almost a year. He told us the story that he was recruited to join a islamic youth being trained by TPLF to infilterate in somalia. He finally abandoned the mission and started to led an ordinary life. Both meles and Afworki were behind this project financed by rich arab states such as Qatar and other.

Both TPLF and Shabia went to somalia in the beginning of 90s and controlled a swath of somalia. After these two dictators failed out with each other they turned somalia to proxy war. We recognise the people of somalia are friend and brother and sisters of Ethiopia. In the future of democratic ethiopia we have to make sure that a peace and tranquility reign in the whole of Horn Africa. We do not even need a border. Just as the south sudanese president said we should not buy into the colonial masters ideology of dividing and ruling us.

He didn't quit. He was toppled by the WikiLeaks leaks. Even his fellow African dictators could not stand him after he abrogated their agreed upon position at the Climate Summit in Copenhagen. Bon voyage small fella.

I relly agree with GIRMA&Tezibt,

The many tultula blowers in here
need to lessen the rhetoric and bring meaningful ideas suitable to current events.Resycling hatred and worn out ideas is not likely to promote peace. It does not help Ethiopia advance from totalitarian regime to democracy.
[IHRETEAB]
What you
just have said is irrelevant to current events.
For instance, this statement is uncalled for. "Colluding with British imperialism to besiege the Mahdists are once again caught in the familiar" "Banda job".
If you have any fresh
idea that help Ethiopia to bring
desired change at this point share it with us,
if you have innovative means and how to go forward let us know
or else ploease dont add fuel to the falame.

This website feels and smells Shaebia/kinijit (CUD - regurgitated animal food brought up to the mouth to be re chewed - get it!). Most of the enemies of Woyanai sound, including their names, clearly messengers of evil from Asmara. If you try to write anything regarding the criticism, insult abuse of Eritreans and anything Eritrean on any of their websites you will face a stiff resistance - they will never allow you to write anything against them. But on the very majority of Ethiopian websites anybody can go in and insult any Ethiopian Nationalities especially Tigraians and sometimes even Amharas and on rear occasions other nationalities. So who controls websites like this - NAZI-Erate and allow nastys like mehreteab/Errgmane-Ab to insult and abuse Ethiopians on your website who are you? Are you webmaster/owner enemy of Ethiopia? Ethiopia has got lots of enemies always. Most of them come from inside. But the internal cannibalistic evil men and women will kill members of your family and cry "murderer" and blame you for the crimes they commit. Some of them are used to asking families of their victims to pay for the bullets cost when they murdered your families. Or bomb your towns and villages and kill everybody and celebrate at "Campo D'Estato" or something sounds like that which is Asmaras equivalent of "Arat Kilo" or similar major Avenue/City Centre anyway. Obviously, ITalian Legacy, and they call the main road "Kombishtato" in Asmarino. Shame on you Ethiopians of extreme evilness and betrayal to other Ethiopians and then you swear you are the "numero-uno" Ethiopians and insult us and everybody even inviting enemies to abuse us. Go to hell and don bother to come back.

Do you guys know that Meles Zenawi is officially a Somalian citizen? It sounds crazy, but it is true. In the 80's he officially changed his citizenship to Somalian so that he could earn travel documents from Ziad Barre government. He attended college in Somalia, and travelled around the world with Somalian passport. Every cell in this man is criminal.
His crimes are just tiring to list. IMO, he is forced to leave this post, probably demanded by the selfish western governments, who do not want to parade this dictator in every meeting they hold in light of the current demand for freedom by the oppressed people of the Mideast and Africa. I hope they ask him to leave Ethiopia as well.

Meles left his NEPAD leadreship post not because he dosn't want it or his time was up, but the situation in Tunis and Egypt left him with no choice., the USA is reviewing its foreign policy towards dicators like Meles. Here is my take,

Leaving NEPAD is a very wise decision by Meles but he should go further and leave his position as a PM. I have two hypothesis why Meles is staying on power for such long time (I am 28, 20 years of my life lead by a single PM!!!).
1. He thinks he can change Ethiopian politics, Economy and Social order by staying on power, which he actually argued in depth on his thesis but subtly by introducing the idea of dominant party.
2. He is despotic dictator like all his friends up north, down South and else where in Africa.

My intuition inclins to accept the second hypothesis but willingly or naively I intend to give him some benefit of doubt. In any case, Meles forget one important idea about leadership. Leadership is not about pursuing a given thought or idea at any cost but it is about successful transfer of wisdom, knowledge and an idea including the tourch of power to the next generation. Looking at EPRDF, its policies and principles and after reading his thesis, I then resign to accepting Meles as a confused leader who has no idea about leadership. i.e. his has no clear vision and idea for the society as well as the nation because a leader with a vision and clear idea would rely on its people and their desire or dream.

Leaving that as it may, I applaud him for leaving his NEPAD post (which I suspect is due to the fact tha Obama and David Cameron wouldn't like dealing with him). I then urge him to pass on his positio as a PM to someone else even within EPRDF. If he does so, he may come closer to be considered patriotic Ethiopia, otherwise, I afraid he once and for all proves that he is a despot on Ethiopians shoulder.

An art of leadership is inspiring, leading and passing leadership not staying there forever.

Any leader who intends to stay longer that 8 (max 10)years on power should be considered undemocratic!

Long live our nation!

Look whether it is soon or later, he will leave. The most important thing is to make sure that another "leader like him" doesn't step in his place. All of us know that this populous need for change is scaring the $hit out of him and his kinds. What has not been done in 20 years or 30 years of a single person leadership cannot be undone or changed all of a sudden, it's the reality. If anything, he should let it go and be an example to others, but who are we kidding? I hope he dies of some extremely painful and disgusting disease than anything else while he is in power, just as a payback to those that have suffered because of him and the country.
If you read this Mr. PM, Everyone would live to tell about you, those with you and what you all have done
if you can make a real peaceful democratic transition (for once). You should have steeped down this last time you had the election. You won't be able to hide anywhere as you can see what is going on with Zine Ben Ali. If you want to man up and say who are you say, make a peaceful transition a reality. For that and only that, you would garner if anything a place in Ethiopia's leadership hierarchy as the one who gave up his power in peace.
