Ethiopia - Eyob Mamo - Meet the guy who owns half of D.C.'s filling stations
Have you heard of Eyob Mamo aka Joe Mamo? Well maybe you should. I bet you heard of Mamo Kacha. Eyob is a 44 year old business tycoon from Ethiopia, who owns almost half of all gas stations in the nation's capital. All told, the young Ethiopian owns about 200 Exxons and 40 Shells in Washington DC metro area and in the outer boroughs of New York City. Mamo was the first black man to be a distributor for Texaco.
Despite his immense wealth, Mamo is described as a humble man who shies away from the spotlight and lives in a modest ranch-style house in Annandale, VA.
Read the interesting story of Eyob Mamo by Washington City Paper and have your say.
He looks like his dad, mamo kacha. Most of all he’s got his business DNA..
Bussiness should be in the DNA of the Mamo familly. Great job sir, proud that you are an Ethiopian.
WT DID HE DONE FOR HIS COUNTRY ? ANY THING?????
What have you done for your country? Quatari bozene!!! Atleast he’s done something for himself and his family? Most of all, the fact that he knew how to play the white man’s game is very impressive!!!
I thought all Diaspora are parking lot attendants and taxi drivers, according to the cyber cadres, I meant. LOL Trust me he is not alone, many many other Ethiopians are out there doing incredible things for themselves, family, and community. By the way, not a thing wrong driving a cab, or working in parking lot too. I also know, so many of those who sacrificed themselves, and raised a beautiful family, giving their kids a better chance at succeeding.
Atleast he is showing you that u can earn more than $8 an hour.
Proud of u man!!!
ye hagare jegina!!

Congratulations, keep on the hard work, and may God Bless you ride the waves.
Diaspora extremists, learn from Joe Mamo and do something worthwhile.

Time to invest in MaMa Ethiopia!
I think he keeps in touch with his country. there is a paragraph that says he was in Ethiopia making a business deal on the phone, with so and so..he probably has business back home too, who knows. but the main thing is he is Ethiopian through and through, with not a drop of banda blood in him…you know what i mean, No contaminated Askari blood..that is the best that can happen to any ethiopian, No askari blood.
GOD BLESS YOU MORE AND LET YOU SEE BACK TO YOUR HOMELAND, ETHIOPIA. I AM PROUD OF YOUYR HARD WORKING AND OF COURSE SUCCESS. KEEP IT UP.
