Ethiopia: AAU President Andreas Eshete Resigns
nazret.com - Andreas Eshete, President of Addis Ababa University (AAU), resigned from his position last week, the weekly Addis Fortune newspaper said. According to sources who spoke with the paper, the official announcement will be made sometime later this week.
The reason for his resignation is not clear although the paper alluded to a medical reason, it said he has suffered a stroke three years ago.
Anreas has been heading Ethiopia's oldest University for more than nine years. The paper also said that he is a close friend of Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.
Andreas studied Philosophy at Yale University and was a faculty member of the Philosophy department at AAU.
