The impressive career of Haile Gebrselassie takes quite a while to take in: two Olympic victories and four World Championship titles over 10,000m, another three World Indoor Championship wins over 3000m and even one at 1500m (!) as well as 27 World records and World bests, including the current World Marathon record of 2:03:59. What is striking about these achievements is that they are by no means the whole story.
What makes Gebrselassie so distinctive and such an outstanding personality in world sport is his entrepreneurial spirit, the intensity of his professional schedule, his personal warmth when he meets other people and his sense of social engagement – all this while simultaneously leading a successful career as a runner at the highest level for two decades

A well written article about our hero and legend Haile G/S by IAAF itself.
Haile is such a down to earth guy. When asked how would he rank himself in the history of running, he put himself as #10, and mentiond our hero Abebe Bikila to be the the greatest of all time as #1. Then puts it in a simple sentence by saying "let me finish my career and let others judge"
Yes I'm really confident he will win the 2012 London Olympic Marathon, yet making another history.

Haile Haile! What a great Teddy Afro song about our classic hero. The man who made Ethiopians dance for joy. The legend who put on a fantastic show in Atlanta, who won with an incredible last second kick in 2000. He is simply the best runner in history, second maybe to Abebe Bikila.
Yet as a man he is someone who is warm, welcoming and socially such a great character.

He is Superb and versatile man in all aspects. I know they are a few mouth & brain infected people will spit out their venom to express their jealousy on his success and achievement , but anyway by any standard he did a lot to his country than any person in our generation and he is the one who helped to revive the dying Ethiopian athletics dominance of the world in long distance running.

Haile will always be a hero and the inspiration to Ethiopians to get out of poverty. I like his attitude and his humility. he is a good runner. so he got also money for that. every single person try to achieve more in his live. the only difference is haile is successs than the others. he has more money in his bank. otherweise, i don+t know his other achivments. what he has done for ethiopians. like any business person he try to get more money. who will not try to get more if we had the chance. Haile even don't loose a single word for his people if it comes about demokracy, bad goverments. He doesnt feel as responsible for his people so long he fill his stomach. he is also corrupt want work with this bloody goverment. the truth will come. Hodam Haile....
