Ethiopia, Somalia draw 0-0 in World Cup Qualifier

Ethiopia, Somalia draw 0-0 in World Cup Qualifier

Al Ahram

Somalia drew 0-0 with 10-man Ethiopia in their World Cup qualifier in neutral Djibouti on Saturday as the last two of Africa’s 22 lowest-ranked teams began their quest to qualify for football’s 2014 showpiece in Brazil

Ranked way down at No. 192 of 208 international teams, Somalia couldn’t make a man advantage tell at the end after a red card for Ethiopia on 60 minutes.

Although Ethiopia is now favorite in the first-round contest with its home leg to come, the lowly Somali team needs just a scoring draw in Addis Ababa next week to progress to the main African qualifying competition and take its place alongside the continent’s big-name teams.

The East African countries met in Djibouti because of the security situation in the troubled Somali capital Mogadishu.

The '10-man Ethiopia' phrase gives a little justific to the poor performance. It is okay, we will trash them 8 to 0 in Addis.

Folks, we have reached the bottom. If a country with no functioning government and football federation can draw with us. How else we expect to win against decent African team?

Wow, I am sorry to say it. Foot ball must be dead in the country. I do not believe that the Ethiopian National team score, 0-0 against Somalia. Then, what country on the face of the earth can they win? This is absolutely unacceptable.
Do not give me any political garbage. I love Ethiopia, and all Ethiopian athletes, but this is shame.

The problem is not with Ethiopian but only them who never knew of football even the three African champion almost all players were Eritreans not Ethiopianer even six African champianship was also the same and Ethioapia had no history of football might Somalia had, even Ehiopia was riding championship Olumpic in london 1966 but it was all Eritreans, read a little history of your country, and 0-0 against Somalia is not bad

Sami dear,
Then, what happened with Eritrean National football team. If you help Ethiopia, your colonizer to win three African cup, under oppression. Now, when you are free you should be world champion when you guys are playing for your own country. On the other hand, I guess you guys prefer to play for your colonizers rather your own country. Eritreans do not have any history in soccer. Those Eritrean you are trying to mention, they are proud Eritrean, Ethiopian. They are not filthy and dirt bag like you. Those Eritrean have no history without Ethiopia. Ethiopia made them to make history. They will be ashamed of you if they read your comment. Would you mind to tell me any good story, history about Eritrea after you guys got your independency? No. However, I want to tell you something. Eritrea was a cancer of Ethiopia, but no more. As Ethiopian developed in economy, technology and everything the Ethiopian football will raise again at this time not only in Africa, but also in the world. YOU SHALL SEE.

Draw with Somalia What?!!!!!! How low this country of once we called home can go under this midget goon and his 'Roxanne' wife? That country which produced a legendary squad that included Luciano, Mengistu, Italo, GilaMichael, Netsere, Mengistu, Dula et. al, who used strike terror in the hearts of all African teams drew with stateless Somalia? Is this a set up for a punchline or what?
