Ethiopia defeats Somalia 5-0 and advances to 2nd Round in World Cup Qualifier

Ethiopia reached the group phase of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers when beating Somalia 5-0 on Wednesday.

The Wayla Antelopes progress 5-0 on aggregate after the victory in Addis Ababa.

A brace each from Shimeles Bekele and Getaneh Kebede and another strike from Omod Okwury helped the home side to the emphatic victory.

The home side dominated the early exchanges and raced into the lead on five minutes with the goal from Okwury.

But the Ocean Stars reorganised their defence and provided stiff resistance until the 62nd minute when Bekele doubled the home side's lead.

The striker made it 3-0 three minutes later before Kebede struck twice in the last three minutes to complete the impressive win.

What a Great high-Five for our Country! But, a Great LOST for Somalia.

Five has good meanings in different cultures and ways:
•Five Senses: only the Ethiopians have it. Those who are living in Rural Area and never been affected either naturally or by colonial;
•Five Ethiopian Spices: sweet, sour, bitter, pungent and salt.

•The Five Philosophical Forces of Ethiopian Theory: some ancient Ethiopian believe,"we are surrounded by FIVE energy fields: Earth, Water, Wood, Fire and Metal".

•Five Fingers in each hand and legs, we all have;

•Five Years consequences makes Italians to suffer and being Slaved in Ethiopia, by Ethiopian heroes, and the lost of their leader Benito Mussolini;

•Five elements: Ancient Ethiopian believe that, to cure the illness of the patients, you must know the Five elements in their body. Excess of an elements or/and deficiencies causes illnesses, then the patient must be treated according to their Memories, History, Ingredients, Recipes and Techniques.

The fake somalia group are none but home-made group who willingly gave up and let the score for Ethiopia 5-0? LOL funny indeed. Real Somalis are not in a position of soccerr games, the real Somali players are fighting for their life.

So please...give us a break!

You really want to face and defeat the worlds toughtest players take Ruwanda, Algeria, Morocco... and show us the real game.

Woyane's childish tactics is worthless as usual. They believe that they can buy Fame, Leadership and Respect by dollars:)

Sick and shameful!

hi, just to let you beware no any Ethiopian will say such as commented by C'est moi senait. There are heaps of Eritrean cadres all over the web with nothing but the task of tarnishig everything Ethipian. If you do youtube about Ethiopia, you will find a lot of nasty comments about you and your country, disguised as concerned Ethiopian. My advise, ignore them, and let them rot in Sinai ki ki ki ki. I bet 70% of the regular commentators here are same sha'abiya cadres trying to instigate violence and hate among Ethiopians. Read for yourself all the comments, and you will know what I mean. Ethiopia Ethiopia yale hulu, ager wedad Ethiopiawi aydelem.

Anyway,the news here is good..

Well, this is how i see it.

A hero set himself on fire in Dawro and the bloody government tries to turn public attention away from the fact by this worthless 5-0 win over a team of players with feet much capable to kick Ethiopian Army than ball. They know if they keep the youth busy happy with such crap, then they can stay on power for infinity.

Expected. Job done.

For all the boasting, overexcited and waay too overconfident Somalis who actually had the nerve to claim Somalia had a better national side than Ethiopia because theyve had 20 years of war and no government:

The Somali national team isn't struggling because of the 20 year war in Somalia. The Somali national team struggles because of one reason: They suck.

There is no such thing as a national team playing poor because there is no government. Somalia has a football federation. The federation has finances AND gets funding from FIFA related charities. Unlike Eritrea, none of Somalias top national team players have defected or left the country. The funding covers equipement travel expenses and everything.  A government doesnt get involved in sporting affairs.

Somalia just doesnt have enough talent or a strong league. Simple. The end of a war won't change that.

Under the entire Siad Barre leadership where Somalia had a prosperous peaceful nation (until the last years), the Somali national side was still the worst in Africa. In the east African tournaments Somalia was always last and im sure football fans back in the day recall Ethiopia beating Somalia 5-0 with Kassahun Teka scoring 2 goals in 1978 or 79. Even in the Indian ocean games where Somalia played with teams like Yemen, they were still bottom.

If the talent remains in the country, you cannot blame the government or war. Only Eritrea can rightfully blame it's government as most of its top talent have ran away.

In 1987 Ethiopia like Eritrea had most of its best players gone escaping the brutal red terror of Mengistu. We had players defecting in Egypt and Morrocco. We were a weaker team. Yet we somehow won the 1987 CECAFA cup that year. We are just plain better at producing raw football talent than Somalia is. Throughout the 60ies 70ies 80ies we qualified for many African tournaments East African tournaments winning titles. In that entire period Somalia had a government and relative peace never once did they qualify for anything and they always finished last or just above Djibouti in east Africa.

Iraq under Saddam Hussein had general peace and security except for the kurdish areas. They had an ok national side back then. They qualified to 1982 world cup i believe. But in the 90ies they dropped down the ranking.

In 2003, the US invaded Iraq as we all know.
Just a year later in 2004, even as Iraq is a total warzone, the Iraqi football team finished 4th at Olympics! Funmy thing was Iraq had no Olympic commitee! President of Iraqs olympic committee was Saddams son Uday hussein who was killed by american soldiers.

If that wasnt surprising, in 2007 with the war still raging and suicide bombs exploding all over Iraq, the Iraq national team won the Asia cup!

Iraqs best results happened during war period.  They had the talent. They just needed the time to get a good coach and blend as a team. And voila, war or not they were ready to produce.

Somalia being in war is no excuse to suck when you always sucked.

You got lucky in the 0-0 draw with Ethiopia. Simple. Ethiopia is going through a transitional period changing coaches and systems. The new manager is also a poor tactician. He just got hired after being fired from his coaching job in Yemen after 3 months only.

Dont forget Ethiopia dominated the whole match and Somalia didnt attack once until Tesfaye Alebachew got a red card on 60 min. AND even after that Ethiopia managed to attack and score an offside goal.

Add that to the injuries of Salahdeen Said, Adane Girma, who would have torn Somalia apart and Ethiopia was at its weakest state possible, you couldnt win front of what was like a home crowd in Djibouti.

Still Ethiopia should have won.

After the 0-0 match i was dissapointed but not worried about losing. There was no way you could win in Addis. You just were lucky we needed to shoot you back to earth. Ethiopia would never let you win at home.

I remember in qualifying for the 2002 World Cup in a two legged playoff between Eritrea and Nigeria the first match in Asmara finished 0-0. Eritreans were bragging so much about how they would grow as a football force, surpass Ethiopia. They were confident they could win because they played an unlucky Nigerian/Angolan side in Asmara. This was before the mass defections started. Eritreans were on cloud nine. I remember they were talking about how if they drew nigeria/angola, they could possibly win the African cup by 2010. So much just for a single lucky 0-0 draw.

The return leg Eritrea lost 4-0 and were eliminated.

Again, I remember, Somalia actually beat Ethiopia 1-0 in 2002. Somalis were feasting on this claiming to be better and that in the coming years Somalia would be a force to reckon with. But instead the next tournaments you finished last. And Ethiopia would finish as champions 2005 and 2006. Nobody even remembers that 1-0 loss.

Ethiopia is in a group with South Africa Botswana, CAr. Qualification CAN be achieved if the stupid federation hires an experienced european coach. Tomas Sainfiet showed immense potential. If he was still manager we would have beat Somalia 10000-0.

Why was the federation willing to pay 8000$ a month to Iffy Onuora, a man who had no experience with national team but refused to pay 8000$ to Saintfiet, an experienced coach who had success with African teams like Namibia and Zimbabwe?

Under Sainfiet Ethiopia lost 2 games. 2-1 to Sudan(friendly) 1-0 IN Guinea. We drew Malawi 0-0, drew Nigeria 2-2 and beat Madagascar 4-2. ALL decent results.

Onuora had us humiliated on our own turf.

3-0 loss to kenya in Addis
4-1 loss to Guinea in Addis
4-0 to nigeria.

But they kept Onuora for almost a year. They let Sainfiet go after 5 months.

F#*k.

One last note for the Somalis who believe Somali football is close to Ethiopian:

As Eritreas idiotic lying dictator says:

WHERE IS ZEEEE EVIDENCES!!!!!

Here is the evidence to the opposite.
Recent competitions for Ethiopia and Somalia.

2010 CECAFA CUP
Ethiopia 2 wins 1 draw 3 losses....9 scored 10 conceded 4th place finish

Somalia 0 win 0 draw 3 loss....0 goal scored 11conceded= last place.

2011 CECAFA Champions League
St George  3 wins 2 draws 1 loss.  13 goals scored 4 conceded. 4th place

Elman FC (Somali champions) 0 win 0draw 3 losses.....0 goals scored 9 conceded...bottom of group.

Combined for 6 losses 0 goals scored 20 conceded!

Yeaaah. Your not close to us by a long shot.

Once every 1000 games, you might get lucky. But thats all.

2018. You have 7 long years to prove us wrong!

No matter what anyone says, GO WALYA BOYS!

You said....

3-0 loss to kenya in Addis
4-1 loss to Guinea in Addis
4-0 to nigeria....

LOL thats what I mean.
These are the real players and but the fake somali (Addis-made) teater is making Ethiopia a loughing stock of the world.

I know if Somali been playing fullheartedly not only Ethiopia, they can come-out as Africa number one winners as well. But due to their situation at home, they are not in a mood of playing yet.

We all saw that no one was interested to even kick the ball because they know what would be waiting for them if they win Ethiopia (the fate like of the journalists:) They are bought to perform what is asked from them:)

As of Ethiopia, you have been free for about 2000 years (like you guys say proudly...LOL, you would have been world's leaders in all kinds of sports by now but pumping your chest with empty pride is more than what you can handle. Enjoy your fake 5-0 for now and time will tell :) :) :)

r'Terra are now feeling disturbed at seeing Ethiopia not being humiliated at the hands of Somalia.

The disappointment is so deep that r'Terra gets angry at Somalia's national footballers because they did not try to get the best training at Sawa Slave Camp!

Congratulations to Ethiopia national footbal team for achieving a modest success.

Actually the real Somalis who drew in Somalia against Ethiopia have been prisoned by Weyane when they arrived in Addis.
They were accused of Terrorism act...... Beating Ethiopian foot ball team is terrorism... lol the mad dog Meles...

Finally, Meles of Ethiopia and Sherif of Somali agreed to fake called " a Somali national team". Otherwise, Meles would not help Sherif against Al Shebab

Any body who watched the match could tell easily. They even could not kick the ball...

The proof for this is that we will see how Ethiopian team would play against real teams from Other countries..
