That will have a major mental health effect beyond proportions. The time flexibility that a taxi driver has, helps him to spend time with his children. That means good grades in school for the kids. I could go on and on detailing the benefits of this business.

Here are some of the serious threats to the taxi drivers

1- negligence and unawareness of cab drivers about the dangers they face from businesses and lobbyists.

2- unable to use social media like tweeter, facebook, media etc…

3- unable to understand aggressive PR offensives by companies like UBER(a company that is taking over taxi business through social media). This is a very dangerous company and taxi drivers have no clue about it.

4- while there are genuine leaders in some of this taxi associations non seem to understand the complex characters of business and politics in DC. Particularly, they seem to lack communication skills with other taxi drivers, media and city officials. I believe they are doing their best but their best isn’t gonna cut it at all.

Solutions from my perspective

1- Aware taxi drivers and anyone who wants to help them to fill out a survey that is online by googling “Mary Cheh taxi survey. More than 4000 surveys have been collected and they are not favorable to the taxi drivers. These surveys are the results of aggressive PR offensives performed Ny hired public relation professional who are determine.ed to pass the business to taxi moguls and. Companies like UBER.

2- Aware taxi drivers that they need to prepare themselves to a better profession by going to colleges, trade schools and universities.

3- Encourage taxi drivers to participate in social media like tweeter. Encourage them to fill out comment sections of Washington post and other important publications in the area. Fight passive behaviors that are hurting them.

If you help them on this topic, you would have saved crisis like mental health, divorce and many other problems that I do not want to list here. I just do not even want to imagine the side effects of this. Please take this as a very critical issue.
