Australia Govt promises Ethiopia $43m for health

Deaths during childbirth in Ethiopia are expected to be halved thanks to a $43 million investment from the Australian government.

Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd on Friday signed an agreement promising the money over four years to help Ethiopia reach its millennium development goal targets on child health.

The cash is expected to dramatically increase the number of trained midwives from 2002 to 8635 and boost attended deliveries from 18 to 62 per cent.

'This work will build on Ethiopia's impressive health gains made since 2005 and help keep the country on track,' Mr Rudd said in a statement.

To have 200 citizens shot dead by an illegitimate government which is meant to serve them, cannot be viewed as an impressive health gain. Although the child health intentions sound good, the reality is much different. Under the alien imposed federation of secession in Ethiopia, a large portion of international development aid is used to maintain the regimes economic dominance which is being used to serve the entering wedge for political domination against the will of the Ethiopian people.

'Global Financial Integrity finds that Ethiopia, which has a per-capita GDP of just US$365, lost US$11.7 billion to illicit financial outflows between 2000 and 2009. More worrying is that the study shows Ethiopia’s losses due to illicit capital flows are on the rise. In 2009, illicit money leaving the economy totaled US$3.26 billion, which is double the amount in each of the two previous years.'

Today the Australian dollar is a high value well sought for currency, something the illegitimate regime will find useful in their illicit enterprise of corruption. For this aid to have a greater impact on child health I would suggest having Doctor Hamlin and her colleagues to be in charge of its distribution and not allowing the regime any access to the aid, for their intentions are clear, to distort the figures by siphoning the aid for selfish ends.

"Neo-colonialism today takes two forms: economic and political. We recognize that economic dominance is not only often the more difficult to eliminate, but often serves as the entering wedge for political domination. We further recognize that, given the history of our continent, and the conditions under which we came to freedom, it is not unusual that, despite our best efforts, the economic independence which we seek is long and difficult in coming. Long-established patterns of trade are not easily or quickly reoriented. Let us not delude ourselves in thinking that these facts, for such they are, are of no significance for the future of Africa. But let us, at the same time, toil with all our strength to alter them.
When we consider political neo-colonialism, our desires, although perhaps no less difficult of attainment, are at least easier of articulation. We seek to avoid a rigid and inflexible posture which prejudices our position on major issues before the world. We seek to avoid alignment, to achieve true non-alignment. Our late good friend, H.E. Prime Minister Nehru of India, put it thus: 'The only camp we should like to be in is the camp of peace and goodwill.'" Selected Speeches of His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I, page 269-70

"Problems still remain. Although attempts have been made to control birth, millions of children are still born in misery, and die in sickness. Millions of African children die in infancy. Those that survive are all to often handicapped by disease, by lack of education, with no opportunity to inherit the rights of other children of the world. During this meeting, you will have an opportunity to take action which will enable generations that follow to look back upon this conference as the beginning of a new era of well-being and happiness for our children. If humanity is led to a better observance of covenants- that are meant for the orderly conduct of life- and if the progress of science is applied solely for human welfare, the increase of population would have become not a burden but a matter of gratification. If this approach is made the needs of children in education, health and other respects would be fully met, thus assuring a better life for all succeeding generations. We urge you to draw upon your wisdom and experience in your search for the means to provide a healthy and prosperous future for our children.
May Almighty God bless you in the work that lies before you." Selected Speeches of His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I, page 384-5

Long Live the Constitutional Monarchy!
Long Live African Unity!
Long Live the Charter of the United Nations!
Fire burn down the neo-colonial witchcraft star of secession
Rise with the Lion of Judah!
Long Live Independent Ethiopia!

As a medical doctor I find the story to be pathetic though I am sure the 43 million dollars will contribut in improving the maternal mortality rate in Ethiopia which is one of the higest in the world. You can not reduce maternal mortality just by providing 0.8 USD per capita (per pregnant woman) in any country in the world.
