Like you said I am a bit disappointed by C'est moi senait comment. Because most Ethiopians in DC or any other city in the US are model citizens that go out and work and support their family. Ethiopians are probably the one of few immigrants that applies for welfare unlike most new immigrants like the East Europeans, Nigerians, Somalians, Chines, Vietnamese, etc...

Everyone don’t have to be a professor, Engineer, or Doctor my dear. You can be a garbage collector and be a productive member of society and live a great life. If you see the kids of the taxi drivers or parking lot attendants are top students in their schools (high school or college) and becoming what their parents wished for them and sacrificed for. This is always true for first generation immigrants. The parent will sacrifice themselves for their children, and that is their success.

So, please dont generalize and comment like you said it. Your comment is truthfull if you said it as an advise to anyone in general, it should apply to anyone anywhere and not ncecessarly to Diaspora only. The issue is the way you said it. If you gave it as an advise to help you fellow Ethipians so they can do better then it is a good thing. Even with that some might follow it and some will not. Everone has a capability and they will live their life based on their capability and knowledge. Everything is not alwasys about money and status for all people.
