She is no longer called Ethiopian but traitor Felasha Israel. If the country was rich then those people would not claim as Israel. Ethiopia should not remember them nor honor them as Ethiopians. An Ethiopia is when things get tough, he or she becomes an iron to conquer the events facing him or her.

Halafi, yours and many other Ethiopians case outside the country is not any different from Yitayish’s. You don’t have the moral standing and authority to deny this sister her Ethiopiawinet. none whatsoever!

If those people were forced to flee due to political reasons then they could have been one of us as a lot of youths left the country during Derg time but we never admonished our Ethiopianwent or our ethnic to that matter. The Felash people were Ethiopians when Ethiopia was heaven for them but when the coutry life became hard they switched their citizenship from Ethiopia to Israel while they were still in Ethiopia and for that I will not honor those people at all nor compare them many of us left the country due to political reasons than changing who we are as Ethiopia union because the counry could not feed us.

What is identity any way,are we talking about Social identity or political identity. An Eritrean man chose his political identity as Eritrean but never scrap his social identity of his habeshan identity.Abdule of Jijiga might be from dulbante/dir clan,in Addis he is an Ethiopian Somali in Europe he is Ethiopian,in America he is African American.Ethiopian Bete Israelis idenitfied themselfes as Israelis but their social identity remain as habeshas.Ethiopian Oromo might be from Wellega/Harar/Bale/were babo of Wollo,in Addis Ababa he is oromo in Europe he is Ethiopian,in Minnesota he is African American. What is identity any way in the World we live in?.

Halafi, beside the tired “political reasons", many of us, the vast majority, have left the country in search of better economical and academic opportunities. The Felashas’ excuse, whatever it might be, is not any less of a reason compared to your alleged political persecution. If similar opportunity presents itself for one of the other communities in Ethiopia today, I am very certain that the entire member of that particular community will leave the country immediately. Evidently, twenty years after Derg’s demise, thousands of well educated Ethiopians are still trying their luck to win the dv lottery every year. What is even more telling is the case of those Ethiopians who leave the country to study abroad and almost always never return to the country. Instead they create a bogus political case to avoid deportation and try to sponsor their immediate family to settle in their adopted country. Even the very rich pay thousands of dollars to relocate and enroll their kids in western academic institutes. That is specially very true amongst the well connected and political elite of the Tigre mafias. Today, almost everyone in the country wants to go Wuch Ager and become a foreign citizen. That is our collective history in the past fifty or so years. So, you are not in a position to pass a judgement. In fact, no one has the right nor power to deny the Felashas’ Ethiopiawinet. Your approval is not a prerequisite for anyone’s citizenship to Ethiopia. gebito? The Felashas, who have kept their Jewish identity for hundreds of years, left Ethiopia to a country that was reestablished specifically for people like them, the Jewish. Honestly, they have a better case than you.

Free, They are many Ethiopians still leaving the counry to Arab countries to work in order to support their families back home but those people do not deny their identity who they are after all so many brave Ethiopians in the Arab world are being killed and kill themselves because they do not want to convert their religion and identities, those are the people always my pride not the people who converted their citizenship as soon as the Gonder green grasses dried up. BTW, I am not commenting based politics, I do not see any gain from them either they remained in Ethiopia or left the country.

Another case what is going on in Eritrea right now, a lot of youths are leaving Eritrea due to political and economic conditions to Israel but those people never ever abandoned their Eritreawinet.

Halafi, what part of they didn’t abandon Ethiopia any more than you did is very hard to understand? Where did you see the Felashas deny their Ethiopiawinet demo? Quit making false allegations. What is the difference between a Tigre man accepting the American citizenship and a Felasha accepting the Israeli citizenship? Explain to me how your case, the man who is also living abroad, is any different from the Felashas and why they should be treated any less Ethiopian than u are. Hey, all of us left Ethiopia in search of a greener pasture. Would u have immigrated to America if it wasn’t more prosperous, freer, greener… than Ethiopia? I know i wouldn’t.

Free with your respect you are wrong on this issue. There is huge difference between group of people or societies like the Felasha and individual Ethiopians. Ethiopians who leave Ethiopia for different reasons are declaring they are Ethiopians where ever they go around the world they seek refuge and change their citizenship after certain years they live in the country but the Felasha are people abandoned Ethiopia while they were breathing Ethiopia air and water because the country could not feed them like their ancestors what Gonder gave them very cheap life. Those people said we are not Ethiopians period when the country was going very tough time but other Ethiopians from all corners of Ethiopia did not say as individual let alone as ethnic or societies to betray Ethiopia saying we are not Ethiopia.

You are saying that the Oromo arrived in Ethiopia around 450 AD crossing to Ethiopia Moyale side as nomadic people with their domestic animals but they remained on the Ethiopia side and became Ethiopians for the last 560 or so years and if Ethiopia had to go to another crises or very bad time all the Oromo would say We are not Ethiopians but our origin is Kenya because Kenya happened to be very rich country or much better in Kenya life the Israeli people in Israel than Ethiopia.

Another good clue to cite you that any Ethiopian where ever we live if anyone asks him or her Where are you from the answer is despite the person is citizen of the country he or she will say I am Ethiopian not the country he or she resides but the Felasha people in Israel say I am Israeli as the that lady said when she came to New York. Also every one of us despite we live very far away from our home and most of us are citizen of another country but we have been glued to our country politics, plight and everything what is going on what our people going though not the Felasha people.
