UN helicopter crashes near Ethiopia's capital; injuries reported
ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA – A helicopter carrying U.N. personnel crashed in Ethiopia on Wednesday, injuring several people on board, officials said.
The helicopter crashed in the town of Debre Zeit, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) outside Addis Ababa, said Dina Mufti, the spokesman for Ethiopia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Dina said there were multiple injuries but he had no further details.
U.N. spokesman Farhan Haq said the helicopter was en route to South Sudan for eventual use by the World Food Program in Jonglei. Haq said the helicopter was owned by Russian company PANH Helicopters.
Ethiopia's state-run news agency, citing the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority, reported that two Russian-made helicopters were traveling from Djibouti to Addis Ababa on their way to South Sudan.
It said one helicopter crashed with four people on board, including two pilots.
AZ, Ante gurage, I will get back to you soon; am quite busy now to react on all your insults to my friends the Warrior Queen and HRH the Amhara Princess. Ye gurage lidjotch yaltekonetetu, yebere shenfila yezew feretetu… You are way out of line, as you have Always been from day one in Soddo and Welkitee! will be continued…
Russian? ‘Banana Copters’ poor maintenance logging too many hours.
Why are foreign crafts allowed to come land or get close to Debre Zeit? I would not trust any of them. Check if they had a camera running. Have to fly high with a gunship riding shotgun.
God Bless Ethiopia.
Look at me! Look at me! Check out my chopper (helicopter)!Debre Zeit
My comment is on “Favioli",
First I don’t see any comment written by “AZ", may be it’s waiting moderator’s approval, but what ever AZ wrote, you have no right to insult Gurage ethnic group, for that matter any ethnic group. I don’t understand why some folk like the so called Favioli don’t read what their comments content before they hit “Send comment” button here. I just can only say “grow up", I’m not a kind of person to attach back and be hypocrite.
Why are you surprised AZ nowadays observed sending personal attacks on Amhara Princess? This is woyanes culture. When they run out of ideas, and couldn’t provide evidence to prove what they are talking about, they turn into insulting you.
That’s deep rooted culture in woyane. If you don’t know, now you know. AZ is the weakest of all. The dead man took AZ’s balls with him to the grave. AZ will never get them back.
This common accident, and they may people injured. So, let us not make fun.
Dear Gurage (visitor),
I am sorry if i have offended you, be it unintentionally. I haven’t insulted any ethnic group here, and never did; all i wrote was “ante Gurage” addressing Addis Zemen, as I have earlier advised him that Gurages are known for their hard work, not le weyanne machebcheb; but the guy never listen to me, nor to anyone else too. That is why. He wrote in an earlier thread on the 75 yr old drug-pusher attacking Cést Moi that the man is certainly her husband, while she hasn’t even said a word!!! she doesn’t say much, anyway these days; (do you, warrior queen??). So, I warned him on this page that he shouldn’t attack my friends. I am half Gurage myself and Gurages are a people I love most in all Abyssinia for their diligence, honesty and all. But our AZ is glued to woyanes…what is one to do? He insults all who don’t court weyannes as losers, diaspora etc etc… Why he, of all people, as a guy who hails from Soddo should love weyannes so much?/ That, is a a million dollar question one could never get an answer for, I am afraid.
So, there you are, and I rest my case.
Let me guess The Eritrean shot it LOL… I am waiting for the agames to come up with that excuse.
