Ethiopian Airlines expects to receive its first Airbus A350 by 2016
Ethiopian Airlines (ET) announced that it expects to receive A350 Airbus plane by 2016, which it had agreed to buy from the European Aircraft manufacturer Airbus.
Tewolde Gebremariam, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ET said that the airline has ordered 14 A350 which was originally conceived in 2004, and had recently its first test flight at the Paris Air show held last June.
Tewolde also said these orders for the A350 on top of the 13 aircraft it ordered the US aircraft manufacturer Boeing made 787s, will help it further excel in its air services endeavours.
ET currently has five 787s, which are said to be fast, fuel efficient and more spacious compared to its predecessors.
Meantime, the airline also revealed that its operating revenue increased by 165 percent compared to last year reaching 2.7 billion birr (around 144 million USD).
Its net profit has also jumped by 178 percent, to reach just over two billion birr, despite soaring fuel prices, and the grounding of the 787s for several months.
Tewelde attributed its success to the dedication and commitment of employees as well as to the wisdom of the leadership and board, Flexible capacity & demand management ,Prudent cost management, increasing Charter business, its Right long term strategy, growth of African and Ethiopian economy and strong Customer confidence.
The Airline which was founded in 1945 currently has 76 international and 17 domestic flights, with 60 fleets in possession catering for over 1330 weekly flights and over 190 daily departures
Again credit to HIM the visionary founder of Ethiopian Airlines with great organization to withstand losing regimes…Derg and now the looting Tewolde and TPLF!
I saw a documenter of HAILE Slase last week in Naples /Italia with black and White from 1950 how he transferred Addis to modern city with help of Italian and other western countries. The picture wittiness how beautiful Ethiopians were with clean roads, clean ppl. No beggar on streets, how civilised they were compared to today’s oxfam wenbedin generation with ugly face,cloth style etc.
EAL pilots and hostesses were beautiful than today’s weyannes hostess with ugly face and tiny feet. Look at their hair style. The ugly hair style on planet earth.

Ethiopian Airlines (ET) is ordering several planes and ET is growing very fast. The important question becomes: is the current ET growth manangeable or sustainable? In otherwords,is this rapid growth on a par with the growth in other sectors of the Ethiopian economy? The answer is obviousely NO. Well, if it cannot be managed and profit is replaced with a loss, what will ET do with bankrupcy? Sale ET to private companies, most probably, waiting by now, on the side ready to jump in at any opportune time to close a deal. I hope the current effort of ET is only genuine and well-planned. ET is growing very fast at a time when companies allover the world are shrinking and downsizing. Something is not right and smells fishy!!!

I agree aklilu was a superb diplomat and might have contributed to form EAL. The point is i dont have to be an amhara to appreciate his contribution. I don’t have z sickness of hating a group of people and demonize them because they are not z “real Ethiopians” as some tacitly believe. You are one of them. But truth be told, ephedra had made great strides than z Shewan leadership. Mind eprdf is no more a leadership by people from one region. The only thing is southerners tigrinas promos are more empowered now. That is what is itching u. Get life.

there are undeniable proofs that Under the actual rulers .Only a one Ethnical Group members are occupying key posts in the Administration .This is why the reason that the actual CEO is placed on Top EAL like the Military Shief Of Staff ,The Foreign affairs and the Economy Institutions including the Security are controlled by the same guys . integrating all Ethnical Groups .Next to Emperor Menelike there were more Oromo Officials than Amharas .Haile and Derg eras National Defense Forces’ Heads were from different Ethnical Groups comparing to the Actual Agazi Institution . If campitane Mohamed was named as the Head of the then EAL it was simply for his skill ,but not really for being for this or that Ethnical Group .But today what peoples are witnessing is that in the actual EAL that most of the Officials from the CEO to the Heads of the Local Agencies are from the same Ethnical Group .Worst including in the Staff Members .

Such bragging on an empty field can be true only if our National carrier is compitent with others. Take the Nigeria fligt as an example. ET used to fly three times a day to Lagos and Abuja. Suddenly when Emirates started operating, ET cancelled two daily flights. Few months later ET is not able to fill one flight a day as most passengers took the better option with Emirates.
Qatar and Ethad opened offices in Addis and awaiting the operation permission which thanks to Ethiopian Civil Aviation has been purposely on hold. Such tactic can not work for long and like it or not those big airlines with free fuel will come to offer better service and cheap tickets. Then only we will see the so called profit making CO Tewolde. He and few of his collaborator opportunist woyane managers will tell us the same profit and success then! Tewolde is blindly opening new routes to Brazil, Vietnam, South Korea ..etc How many Aircrafts do the company have? what happens if two Aircrafts at sertain route happened to be delayed for technical reasons? Tewolde has only one aim. To brag about new routes opened during his managment to be taken to his credit. It has been seen due to 787 problem how ET incurred unexpected costs and irregularity. The Airbus plan is also going to crate unexpected problems as the whole facility has to be built from scratch and hundreds of technicians must go through training. Already many Cockpit and cabin crew, qualified technicians are leaving the company whenever they got the chance. Few may stay for long time.
My conclusion! ET is there as miraclous company.
