Ethiopia: Teshome moves from zero to hero

By Collins Okinyo

SuperSport.com

Minyahil Teshome has described his winning goal for Ethiopia in their 2-1 win over Central African Republic (CAR) as the best moment of his career.

Teshome scored the winner and afterwards said that he was happy the goal had absolved him all the blame after Ethiopia were docked three points for fielding him against Botswana in June.

He described the moment his team was deducted points as confusing ,hurting and saddening but added that Saturday felt like redemption.

"I feel so overwhelmed today remembering how the country came to a standstill when we were docked points especially for fielding me. Today I have been vindicated and I feel like I have been born again as the goal was totally unexpected," Teshome told supersport.com after the win.

"Some things are hard to explain but it's the pride of any player to score a crucial goal that helpd his country make history and I feel privileged for being that player. Our dream is on course and we hope to continue with the great progress in the playoffs," he added.

Yea, that was a great contribution by Minyahil. It is not easy to play in such pressure.
Anyway I would say that everybody in that team should be called hero.
And still a big task is ahead of them.
Good luck waliyas!

Bravo!!! Minyahil,, go brother,,,Know this that you worked hard for your country and God blessed you with such a surprise,, carrying you to a country hero,,, and you are,
Our country is making histry with her brave children like you. Make sure to encourage and share the victory with all your team members,, when we humble ourselves and share what we have achieved, love and unity gets their way , if we are selfish hatred and revenge paves their way,, so congrats for you, for your team and for all of us,,,,

The best things come to those who wait. Minyahile waited a very long time and after the pain of the deducted points, he has scored our winner, eliminated South Africa from the world cup, and is getting married next weekend. Minyahile Teshome, keep doing what you are doing. You have the love and support of a nation.

Those thugs @ the Football Federation tried to blame this wonderful player and our great coach for their stupid and ignorant work ethics. We Ethiopians should never forget how they nearly cost us our dream of entering int the FIFA world cup. Strict and Decisive measures must be taken! We will never forgive neither forget when it comes to Ethiopia.

Shemsu, I love your statement! It is very clearly stated. Minyahil should have not been blamed at all for the mess created by the EFF. Anyways, he scored a goal that is taking us to the next level in this qualification campaign

Shemsu,…

That mistake occurred on the field not in the office.
The player himself should have known and be aware of it that, if he is eligible or not for the next match. Most of all, the coach and his assistants on the field should keep a note and be aware of the ineligible players. Simple as that!

The blame was on Ethiopian soccer federation and Ethiopian sport journalists for not monitoring and pointing the yellow card. The player and the head coach’s only focus is winning the games. Anyway, bygone is bygone. Let us learn from it, assign some one for that task and move on. Our team still has a huge job ahead, though what they have already achieved is amazing. No pressure on our team now just enjoy your beauriful game. Good luck.

Addis Zemen wrong for ones… The mistake happenned in the Office. The player should have not been allowed on the plane in the first plane… The list of players is prepared by EFF… It is mainly there fault. It is amazing though that neither the player, or the staff has seen the problem… This means they were all in in the trick?

addis zemen:

You better call yourself “Zemen Yalefebet". All you do is parrot on behalf of the wrong doers. Minyahil Teshome is not guilty in all accounts. It is you and your likes that accuse him of wrong doing. Please stop being a witness of another rat ("yayit miskrwa dinbit").

I think the coach knew what he was doing when he brought an unqualified player in. He was hoping to get away with it by claiming that it was a mistake. The player also knew what was going on, but he just could not resist the bait. Hope they learned that a hard work and honesty are still the best way to earn respect.

ALL’s Well that Ends Well.

I’m glad Minyahil redeemed himself in such great style. That’s quiet a redemption.
I assume it is all behind us. But if you look for a scapegoat on this matter, it is all a blunder of the coaching staff. They should be accountable for negligent, or a deliberate act of ignorance. And if the federation has to be blamed for anything, it is for not sacking the whole coaching staff including Sewenet. The coaching staff should know that they are running a national team, not a village kindergarten soccer.

Good bless my country and hope we will be in Brazil. If Ethiopia qualify then I will be in Brazil personally to support my team. The main thing is please advice our players that they must play their game with discipline, but not any respect for great names. We Ethiopians have great respect for foreigners but not other way. So if we play with Germany or England, we must take this game as if we play with Kenya or Sudan.
