Ethiopia Coach Sewnet Bishaw is nazret.com Person of the Year

nazret.com - It is no exaggeration to say, 2013 has been a momentous year for Ethiopian football. For the first time in 31 years, Ethiopia qualified for African Cup of Nations. And it came close to clinching a spot in the biggest sporting event, a place in the World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

Ethiopia did not move past the first stage in African Cup of Nations nor it was successful in its world cup qualification bid, nonetheless the most exciting year for Ethiopian football. When was the last time you watched Ethiopian football on TV? Millions of Ethiopian (many for the first time in several years) watched the national team play against top African teams. Who would forget the colorful and vibrant Ethiopian fans in South Africa?

Not everything went as we would like and mistakes were made along the way, but Coach Sewnet Bishaw deserves the credit for making 2013 a momentous year in Ethiopian football. He has made a great impact and instilled confidence that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible. He set the bar high, believed in his team. Above everything, we the fans enjoyed watching our national team competing in international level.

The national team, the coach and fans were all great and we hope to see Ethiopia in African Cup of Nations for years to come.

We are honored to name Sewnet Bishaw our Person of the Year.

Happy New Year

Nazret.com!!! You make my day!!! Unlike many moron ethio diaspora websites you seem to hear the heart beat of your majority of reader. First you banned the daemagog writter with the name Al from your site and now named Sewinet person of the year!! Happy New Year Nazretoch!!

[Thank you, just to clarify we did not ban him, he chose not to post his articles on nazret, for reasons we do not know. ]

Fair enough. No dispute at all; what a phenomenal year for Ethiopian soccer! Due credit to the deserving party; Sewnet Bishaw should get one.

Wish him more successful years in his endeavors.

More work less talk; more talk only when necessary, like when you want to scare your opponents.

But thank you, thank you, thank you for all what you have done.

At Sewenet Bishaw is a great guy, a wonderful trainer who succeeded in a most difficult task, i.e. forging a technically and physically efficient national team from what was available in that land. Agree that Nazaret nominated him Person of the year and deservedly too.
On a lighter vein, how about naming a second person too, like our AZ, for his “persistence”, indefatigable “nature”, “loyalty” to Weyannee etc etc…Probably he will take over the task of trainer when Sewenet Bishaw retires..and then, we will be free of AZ! Sounds good?

This is great Nazret, I don’t know whay your political affliation is, but you are doing great by giving this award for a person who put Ethiopia on spotlight at the world sport aerena. I am glad u didn’t put Esayas Like Eliyas Kiflom, a man of the year. Elyas should learn from this. Baravo Nazret he deserve that.
