“Remco Bergkamp, assistant manager at Esmeralda Farms in the Netherlands, told Al Jazeera that the company would probably leave Ethiopia, rather than rebuild the farm.”

Bravo ! Keep on doing this and see who really is going to get hurt?

We begged for 25 years, but people became so arrogant and ignorant. The end result is chaos.

Thay don’t know how to thank EPRDF.

They used to cross Nile (Abay) by a rope, now EPRDF has built them a bridge, and even something bigger the Grand Millennium Dam.

When the TPLF fighters were passing by their backyards in the 1980s, all of them were dressing a dried sheep’s skin with its fur, like prehistory time. Now, everything has changed for good.

During the derg, their mothers begged for Melaku Tefera, the then district dictator of Derg, to pardon their only son and then after they promised not to bear another son. Now, things have changed: these very people come out to the street under pretext of peaceful demonstration, they are looting and vandalizing properties, burning houses, and killing innocent people; what kind of demonstration is this?

This seems their way of saying: “We don’t even remember the time we have been oppressed; either we are too young to know that period or our parents didn’t tell us the true history.”

The government is too slow to react in campaigning vigorously to inform the public and to warn against the anarchy to follow. The signs for the worst scenario were there if it had followed what evil things they have been posting. What they have done in Bahr Far is not any different to what the unruly anarchists have done in the Arab world. It is unbelievable, their action is despicable. This is their country and people that they are trying to strangle by depriving them essential services like water, ambulance etc, is this really love of country? The country is not like any Arab country, grievances can be presented in a civilised manner. There are institution to present them like courts like in the West. Government must aggressively act to avoid such senseless acts. Even governments in West do the same if individuals break law and order.
Long live Ethiopia

Should know this before they set their fee and dare to grab the livelihood of the poor farmers. Go home safely & take the rose home with you. Now the Amhara & the Oromo people are making heavy feast for the tigre-woyane. This is the land of the barve and free people not the shumabs bandas.

Protests , wars and so on can happen anywhere in this world. Investors are quiet aware of the risks they are taking when they first evaluate the market. What makes this incident so unusual is the Ethiopian Insurance companies that insured this firms for total coverage are unwilling to pay the investors .All insurance companies that insured are not even willing to accept the claims which is a major violation of international laws which the insurance companies are required to abide by if they want to stay in business .Even if they close the insurance companies and declare bankruptcies we can sue the Ethiopian government itself to pay us for the damage. The Ethiopian government is known for selling the same lands or properties again and again to so many investors ,and this protestors could have been easily stoped but the government let them continue because they figured when we go they can sell it to the next victim investor allover again then someway they chase that investor out sell it to another investor that’s the Ethiopian government way of business the locals know it very well and we foreign investors are really aware of it now. .

(Both groups of protesters are demanding more political and economic rights, and say that a ruling coalition is dominated by the Tigrayan ethnic group, which makes up about 6 percent of the population )
You even dont know what you guys are talking about.Such a monkey protest.
Pls figure out the number of Tigre in the higher position of the ruling party.
President…Oromo
Prime Minister… Debube
Most ministers except two are from other regions.
There is no Tigre here period!.The Tigre thing is a ghost thing just people imagine in their mind. They assume that some where in their box Tigre is watching them.
Or fantasy that the Tigre are their good shepherd, as the Arabs do when they kill each other they point their finger at the America
Pls be matured and be accountable for your action.

You must stop playing anarchy. The country does not belong to morons that are out there to destroy it. The time to fight you back to protect our people and country has come. We the people of the country and government will fight you back until you realise your action is not right. Enemies who are telling you destroy our country have their agenda to realise. They want our resources by dividing us and weakening us. How can you cooperate in their clandestine plot against your own people? Shame!

I hope this is an extremely rare incidence. It is not right and deserve utter condemnation. It is not right to burn down implements of industrial development. It is downright crime. Now many citizens will be left without sources of income. All industrial outfits and every items of infrastructure should always be left untouched and undisturbed. The civilian population should protect them no matter who owns them. No, no, no and no!!!! I have mentioned this in my various comments in the past. That backward society must be weaned off the agrarian mode of making a subsistence livelihood through industrialization. Industrialization is the only means by which women would be liberated. Women are liberated then we can talk about the stemming of absurd population growth. By that the whole society will start thinking better. Unhindered industrialization is the guaranteed eliminator of despots. It is the most reliable fumigator of extremism of any nature. Foreign investment was and has been the most important factor of industrialization. Without significant foreign investment you can forget progress good bye. And peace in the society is the foremost requirement even to start the process. Workers can be trained into skilled employees but if there no peace those holding the money bags will not even bring up the name of the country. Once they leave they may not come back. Ever. One violent incidence to their facility is enough the nerve of the rest of them. This is the worst news I read about that country today, may be to-date.

Moron Tigre you need to move out of Ethiopia and follow your TPLF leaders to the bottom of the food chain and irrelevance in short order. The ugly short history of ethnic based agenda of TPLF is coming to an end for good.

As for these businesses the beneficiaries were never the people but the TPLF tugs like Azeb and EFFORT. Good bye and come back later when the people are in control!!!
