Ethiopia: Revelation of Zenawi’s vision for Tigray

By Robele Ababya

Azeb Mesfin reportedly revealed the existence of a project document prepared by her late husband Zenawi to transform Tigray into an industrial center of the tribal-based Federation of Ethiopia. This rather surprising revelation and its timing has been a hot topic of debate with views converging on the question of what her husband’s vision was for the rest of the balkanized regions of Ethiopia.

Notwithstanding my record of advocacy for the development of Tigray, let me infer what traitor Zenawi had in mind for the rest of Ethiopia. In view of his intense hatred for the Amharas, Zenawi’s vision for the Amhara regional state could only be to relegate it to the role of supplying raw materials to the his envisioned industrial state of Tigray; the fate of Oromia region cannot be different for the strategy of the tyrant has all along been to emulate Mussolini’s policy to make the Amhara and Oromo major ethnic groups politically extinct – reduced to the level of consumers and providers of cheap labor as slaves and suppliers of their regions abundant natural resources as directed by their ruling masters. Prime Minister Desalegn Hailemariam, who has perhaps under duress allowed erosion of his power by unconstitutionally appointing two more Deputy Prime Ministers, has to inform the SEPDM Council about his predecessor’s ‘vision’ for the southern region. One can only have sympathy for the humiliated PM.

Nightmarish issues for the EPRDF to resolve

The late tyrant Zenawi suddenly died mysteriously; the cause of his death has not been disclosed to date. His atrocious legacy has submerged his EPRDF Party in deep crisis. Ethiopia is on the threshold of catastrophe due to lack of an all-inclusive effective government amid brewing regional instability the Horn of Africa and souring relations with Sudan and Egypt over the Blue Nile River.

The rudderless EPRDF in disarray at this critical time of the history of Ethiopia is faced with formidable issues, inter alia:-

• Honoring the verdict of the International Court of Justice over Badme dispute
• Border demarcation with Eritrea
• Meeting the demands of secessionist dissidents
• Unconditional release of all political prisoners
• Opening up of the political space
• Honoring the constitution in regard to freedom of expression, religious freedom and the independence of all pillars of democracy
• Abject poverty; intolerably high unemployment, especially among the youth
• Rampant corruption of top TPLF/EPRDF leaders
• Runaway inflation coupled with depreciating currency
• Provocative Mega Dam Project leading to bankruptcy and regional instability

The above signify the dilemma of EPRDF in deep crisis far beyond the competency of the criminal thugs entrenched in the upper echelon of the TPLF to resolve for they lack legitimacy and moral authority given that they actually stole 99.6% of the votes in the heavily rigged sham election of 2010. Incidentally all the elections held in Ethiopia for the last 22 years has set a bad example spreading like bush fire over the rest of Africa.

Ethiopia shall stretch out her hands unto God: Psalm 68:31

Ethiopia in her long history has been a victim of repeated naked aggression, subversion, and foreign-instigated terrorism, which the international community failed to condemn in most cases. It is agonizingly disheartening to see that help is coming from some quarters in the West to prop up dictators. Let me provide some historical facts interlaced with my comments regarding the harrowing experience that Ethiopia has gone through in her relations with foreign powers:

• The League of Nations, of which Ethiopia was a founding member, tacitly condoned the invasion of Fascist Italy, which brought untold sufferings to the Ethiopian people;

• British Field Officers, soon after World War II, conceived and created the first Waayane (Tigray Peoples Liberation Front) to dismember Ethiopia. It took a lot of sacrifice to defeat Waayane I. The Ethiopian people are presently engaged in a fierce struggle to end the tyrannical rule of the Stalinist Waayane II over the last 22 years;

• The defunct USSR heavily armed the regime of Ziad Barre of Somalia for the vicious aim to destabilize Ethiopia because our country was seen to be an ally of the West during the cold war. As a result, Ethiopia’s borders were violated; many Ethiopians were displaced, injured and killed in cold blood by the Army of Somalia;

• The US government: threatened to order air bombardment from its Air Force Base in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, unless the Ethiopian Air Force complies with the order to bomb the Headquarters of the Imperial Bodyguard in Addis Ababa during the attempt by Brigadier General Mengistu Neway to overthrow the Emperor in December 1960. The Carter Administration also later refused to deliver critically needed military equipment for which Ethiopia had paid, thus forcing the Military regime of Mengistu Haile Mariam to solicit for arms from the former USSR to fight Somalian aggression;

• The US government was quick and the first to give recognition to the Eritrean independence, which has left Ethiopia and her over 90 million people landlocked; this action by the USA resulted in the gravest damage to the economic lifeline of Ethiopia and her other strategic interests;

• Iraq under its evil dictator Sadam Hussein and other Arab countries like Saudi Arabia, Syria and Egypt were financing, arming, and training separatist guerilla fighters to destabilize, weaken and break up Ethiopia. Pakistan played a similar role as an extremist Islamic state.

The above historical facts and comments excerpted from my article titled “Ethiopians have only their God and themselves to end tyranny” show that foreign powers care less about the emergence of democracy in Ethiopia and welfare of her people, for their own interest is always paramount. They find it convenient to deal with dictators in the pursuit of their interests. President Bush pledged that democratic changes in every country can count on the support of the United States, but failed to make a public comment on the genuinely democratic election of 15 May 2005 and the despicable state-sponsored violence in its aftermath.

Former President George W. Bush did not honor his promise to discard the policy of former US governments of forging alliance with dictators, as he put it, of the last sixty years. President Obama has disappointed Ethiopians during his first term so far. Will he reward Ethiopians during his 2nd term?

Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and his toothless United Nations Organization did nothing to address the rampant gruesome human rights violations and robbery of votes by the repressive TPLF/EPRDF regime. As if to add insult to injury, Ethiopia has been selected to serve in the Human Rights Council of the Organization. This is pathetic to say the least – a mother of all contradictions.

Ethiopia played a leading role in supporting all liberations movements in Africa and the world at large. However, the defunct Organization of African Unity (OAU) did not lift a finger to intervene in the saga of events leading to the dismemberment of Ethiopia in breach of its own Charter. It is even more shameful that the OAU endorsed election result of 2005 and one of its officials blamed the victors (opposition leaders) for the state-sponsored violence in the aftermath of that election. The African Union has been tightlipped about gross human rights violations; it endorsed election 2010 as free and fair despite contrary findings by the EU Election Observer Mission.

When asked, in the aftermath of the 2005 election, what legal authority he had to by-pass the Parliament and declare a state of emergency, Zenawi responded by saying that, after all, the donors did not object to the action he took. His response is solid proof, among others, that the monstrous killer was subservient to the interests of the donors at the expense of the vital interests of poor Ethiopia.

Our beloved country Ethiopia continues to be a pawn on the chessboard of foreign players. Zenawi had deceitfully and cleverly appointed himself as the champion for the fight against terrorism in the Horn of Africa, ironically as if he was not a terrorist himself engaged in the massacre of Ethiopians. The US government chose siding with perpetrator of tyranny in Ethiopia shunning Opposition Leaders comprising principled Ethiopians, highly-educated in the West and currently enjoying the confidence of the overwhelming majority of Ethiopians.

So, fellow Ethiopians, we are on our own with only God on our side. As demonstrated in the sudden death of Zenawi and the renegade Patriarch Paulos, God has done His part leaving to us what we can do. Considering the turmoil in the Arab world whose dictators had always been vicious adversaries of Ethiopia, I renew my faith that the Almighty God shall keep His covenant with her.

The successors of the vulgar, abrasive, offensive and abusive late traitor, killer, and pathological liar are strange bedfellows submerged in mistrust and incompetency; they have nothing new to offer. Therefore the only choice for us Ethiopians is to eradicate his obnoxious legacy through intensified and concerted struggle.

Peaceful struggle does not mean staying put and wishing for things to happen in one’s favor. It rather means engaging in activities including staging debilitating civil strike short of being the first to use the gun. I urge readers to heed the clarion call of Dr. Negasso Gidada made in his courageous, enlightening and inspiring article in Amharic recently posted on esteemed democratic pro-Ethiopia websites. I also urge fellow Ethiopians everywhere to emulate the courage of Egyptians in their protest against President Morsi for his dictatorial declaration to govern above the law.

We must never forsake our martyrs and all political prisoners and seek justice for the former and immediate release for the latter including Andualem Aragie, Eskinder Nega, Reeyot Alemu, leaders of Ethiopian Muslims peacefully demanding for respect for their constitutional religious rights et al.

Mr. Robele Ababya, I think you are among a growing number of Ethiopians who are set on retarding the dramatic and transformational progress that our country has been experiencing these last few years. I think it is clearly evident that following the chaos of the Derg Regime that there has been remarkable infrastructaral improvements as well as ecnomic ones. However, recreant individuals like you and the imbecilic organization you represent are only intent on advancing your divisive propaganda. At some point you have to accept the fact that the late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and his EPDRF party have been the only competent group of politicians– either to defeat a regime or advance their cause–and all other whiners in the diaspora–you and Nazret included–along with their futile political parties, will forever remain voiceless.

So what is new? The right wing extremist keep writing, now they come up with a new rumor out of thin air. They tell us about a new document that doesn’t exist and they tell us that TPLF’s plan to demolish two iconic statues which isn’t true. They do this because they feel they need to get even because they are trying desperately to sweep the Eskinder Nega infamous article under the rug. Get Lost Judea!!! The right wing extremist recycle words like banda, and cancer. The violence and bloodshed addicted right wing equate federalism with fascist inspired evil. They lecture us about human right but they are shameless peddlers of violent form of forced assimilation. They deafen us about press freedom but they intimidate and bully anyone who does not share their violent form of politics. They are one and the same with the Dergue who shamelessly wrapped themselves in Ethiopian flag while committing crime against humanity.

Peace to Ethiopia!

You are a loser. One time you write about Ethiopian Muslims? Why you interject politics with God? this is purely very disturbing. Is your goal to promote religion? Which God will protect her? I mean you are infusing religion here or you have to put also Allah or Wakefa as well.

You are truly a divider and “nostalgic of Haileselasie Legacy". Please Ethiopia writers forget about christian Kings. They were very partial leaders. think instead about Ethiopia and its people. who have not done any thing wrong.

You must know by know Ethiopians are smarter than you think. You wasted half your day writing a gossip article, like a Enquirer magazine.Time is money, please have a decency, and do not waste our time. If you believe in “One Ethiopia", it should not matter to you if an industry gets erected in Tigray, Gojam, Gonder, etc. One can not deny that, there are more factories/industries in Oromia region than all other regions combined. Resources dictate investments, not just tribal affiliation. This is the new ETHIOPIA.

Dr. Robber Ababa

U seems answering our own question
• Honoring the verdict of the International Court of Justice over Badme dispute

As Ethiopian what is our business here?

• Border demarcation with Eritrea

If we have border demarcation this automatically answer the above question

• Meeting the demands of secessionist dissidents

I agreed with u here but only one small condition Can those secessionist also sing agreement saying if any dissident demand secession they too have to honor the demand of dissident to separate.

For example Eritrea should allow afar to separate from Eritrea if they demand at least they must be referendum

• Unconditional release of all political prisoners

This one is funny because if we agree to this one how we going to jail corrupted TPLF leader because once we put them in jail they become political prisoner and we have to released all political prisoners without any kind of per-condition

• Opening up of the political space

Does this include Ginbot 7, OLF, and ONLF can they come with their gun?

• Honoring the constitution in regard to freedom of expression, religious freedom and the independence of all pillars of democracy

Does this honoring business apply to TPLF or it apply to all opp. Group

• Abject poverty; intolerably high unemployment, especially among the youth

Does that mean the boycott is working

• Rampant corruption of top TPLF/EPRDF leaders

Sorry we can’t jail political prisoner… Then again we can always can replace them with honest leader from Ginbot 7, ONLF leaders, or OLF leader they will never take bribe they are very honest.

• Runaway inflation coupled with depreciating currency

U stamp me here what is the solution… Then again we always used Mengistu Haile Mariam method kill anyone who try to sale above price limit or use Meles method and build cement factory when the cement price high or build sugar factory when price of Sugar is high. In fact u fight price inflation by allowing the price to rise instead of operating it the more business investor enter the market when the price is high and lower the price if u artificially oppressed the price no new investors enter the market and the price inflation rise.

The more u depreciated our currency the more we can export our goods so it is 101 economy it is not politics beside if importing become more expensive again investor start making goods locally because they will much cheaper then import.

• Provocative Mega Dam Project leading to bankruptcy and regional instability

If we didn’t build this dam we also will die mind u not bankrupt is our worried our life is at steak. No dam means our fertile land will be gone with erosion sooner or later we will be desert… If u don’t buy this answer that is what they say about our Ethiopia airlines 60 years ago

Wow.. SelamLeEthiopia,
I like your analysis and it does have some truth in it, very articulate, except that ethnic federalism is not the way.. as it has proved dis-functional due to corruption and division among the ethnic groups leading to predictable future disasters. Neither is forced assimilation as bad as you make it to be as it did work with America’s race relations in the sixties and eprdf is using it in the Ogaden. Our situation was already in the process of harmony all Tplf had to do was uphold/enforce equality. Also, the Tplf regime has repeatedly shown itself to be intolerant of the slightest kind of political opposition. No amount of sugar coating is going to deny the fact that Tplf is the dictatorship that has harmed Ethiopia more than any right winger, even the Derg. No need for details on that.

My dear, Tplf has divided Ethiopians in ways that will take generations to correct, of course to thinkers like you and Meles a united Ethiopia is the work of the neftegna Amhara. That is the Isayass doctrine which Tpl was built on, which Meles followed to a tee.

The dream of a common national language, sharing of cultures, no restriction of trade by kilil, religion equality, freedom of speech and the right of every Ethiopian to settle, do business or otherwise engage in any other form at any place of choice in Ethiopia and not restricted by ethnic kilil, is not forced assimilation. It is called harmony, unity, call it what you may it is how a nation is built. But we know it will not happen under Tplf. So, let me just say this is the ultimate goal of all who oppose Tplf, those of us you call right wing. And if this is what the “violent bloodshed addicted right wing” is asking for.. oh hey it is worth the sacrifice, for our children, for our existence as a nation, one people respecting each others cultures with a common goal of their rights respected by those who they VOTE in to office. All we need is leadership free of a goddamn liberation front mentality.

Peace to all Ethiopians!!
One Nation one People under God!!!

This and other similar articles by individuals with deep seated hatred for all of us Tigrayans are so biased that it won’t take a hard look to understand their main objective which is to spread sheer hatred against my God-fearing people of Tigray. They project this idea that Our Prophet PM Meles wanted to make Tigray a “Greater Tigray’. They tell ‘manifesto’ this ‘manifesto’ that about a non-existent document. They try to tell others that Our Benevolent and Eternal Leader PM Meles and all liberation fighters of TPLF were Anti-Amharas. If all of us TPLF fighters were and still are Anti-Amaharas, then why did we liberate them from the ruthless regime of Mengistu in 1991? Remember who had already liberated the whole of Tigray from Mengistu in 1988 and we could have stayed within our borders. But were touched by the miserable situation of the Amharas and liberated them in just less than 3 years in 1991. We also liberated the Oromos, Somalis, Afars and the rest of nations and nationalities of Ethiopia in a very short time. Believe me Mengistu was ready and willing to come into agreement with our independence and leave is alone. In fact, he begged for such lasting truce. But when we saw the misery of the Amharas, Oromos and others under his rule we just could not sleep well. And we lost many of our dearest sons and daughters just to liberate others. That shows you in indisputable facts that we have no hatred and never had one against the Amharas or any other nations of our country. You can bank on it!!!

So what is the big deal here? Why do not you stop talking bullshit 24/7 and write a paper to industrialize Ethiopia, or to industrialize Gojam or Gondar for the matter.

1. Azeb said that Melles had porepared a project to industrialize Tigrai. So, his analysis is based on this.

2. Robele opposes ethnic federalism. That doesn’t mean that he is for forced assimilation. THIS IS YOUR OPINION FORMED AFTER THOROUGH BRAINWASHING BY MELLES. Actually, the real debate about federalism is ‘what type of federalism?’

3. Melles has committed several crimes. (He is directly responsible for the killings after the 2005 elections.) How can he be a visionary leader and a mass murderer at the same time?

Ato Robel,
Judging by the comments on this thread so far, you must have struck a nerve to warrant such tarshy comments. They are loathe to the notion that their idol’s grand project for his Tigrai/Eritrea at the expense of the rest of Ethiopia is revealed by none other than his widow

The fact that the existence of such document shouldn’t be a surprise at all. MZ had rather vocally expressed something similar to what the document is purported to have revealed. Why do these people reject something we all ahve witnessed over the years. The only opposition came from none other than his own party who saw a rather sinister plot to undermine Tigrai itself.
The project for Tigrai was the first step in his grandest scheme of destroying a country called Ethiopia. The culmination of his project would have been bringing Tigrians under the thumb of his beloved Eritrea.

The conspirators to his vision are now closer than ever to political power by arm-twisting the pathetic PM to appoint three deputy PM. In all these mega schemes there just might be a light at the end of the tunnel.

If you are a real Muslim, what are you doing in the Christian west you hate so much? Why don’t you be in the desert to enslave you and see you as a dirty dark, poor and backward thing?

Mind you, the Arabs are the Semitic people the same way the Highland Ethiopians do. You are just a slave and nothing. They know it. Islam came not long ago and it will disappear as it is the nature of religion throughout history. But the Semitic people have thousands years of history and live on forever.

Right now they are just suffering and also causing troubles against the rest of the world because of that Moha mad is controlling their mind and soul with satanic spirits that one day they will reject him knowing he has done nothing to them and the world but all along bad things including the worst and cruelest ones.

The good news is that Shias are becoming powerful in many countries including in Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Eastern Saudi Arabia where the oil is and many places. Saudi Arabia fears and hates Iran more than anything else including Israel. In Islam the Sunnis are the only creatures causing crimes against humanity in the name of religion including against the Shias. Shias are the first and worst victims to the Sunnis.
The international community has to take the Shia side against the sunni you slave also are part of it despite you know nothing but being brainwashed like a trained dog and pig to serve the Sunni Arabs.

What is your day to day Job you are doing it to generate income for living? Just being curious. Or are you a worthless beggar or living under aid called income support in foreign country while you are acting the way you do in Ethiopian blogs 24/7 always vomiting about Islam with lies? Which tigry are you talking about?

Is it the real Tigry her boundary was/is known internationally for many years till 1991 before woyane took power by force and created a new tigry by having gun in hand and hate in heart and brain taking vast and fertile lands illegally/by force from Gonder and wollo which is 40% Tigry territory today?
What about the Irob, Rayas in and around Almata, Korem , Michew and the likes, Tartars, Kunama, Afars and of course the Amharas that are living in the Amhara region of Tigry including wolkite- Tegede, Alem wuha zuria and the likes that were taken by woyane from Gonder and wollo since 1993?

You are typical an agame beggar. It is clear that you are suffering from different kinds of mental sicknesses among the other inferiority complex which is the known behavior to the agames.

Meles who was a little bold ugly creature is gone. It is a very welcomed departure that he is gone for good buried under the ground after committing so many crimes starting from a dead and hostile Tigry stony mountain.

The good news is that sick individuals like you are gone and the rest will disappear one by one soon. The healthy Generation will take over and it will do it by correcting the intentional and calculated illegal actions woyane have committed by itself without any opposition based on its own benefit after taking power by force.
You Agames are living the same way when you were in dedebit 22 years ago. You are crazy, beggar and dependent on others. You are not even in the position to protect yourself from Shabia. Do you remember what shabia did to you between 1998-2000 before Ethiopians rescued and freed you from shabia occupation? Shabia killed you like rats including bombing the school children while they were at class.

You agames are the hated beggars by all sides and groups. Your behavior towards the Amharas is nothing but playing against you. If the Amharas are not there to protect you playing rolles as big brothers, everyone knows what could/would happen to you when we know the feeling of other Ethiopian groups towards you is a deep rooted long period hostility. However you crazy agame immigrant don’t represent the People living in tigry but the few sick agames living in the past.

This is the nature of the agames. Instead of dealing with the one responsible about the issue, you always are blaming everyone. A single person from the internet cannot represent more than 27 million Amhara people including living worldwide. But you crazy Agame behaves like real crazy beggar agame.
You are the shame and disatser to Ethiopia in many occassions including the 1984 famine.

Here is my response to you!
This isn’t 1800s or 1900s for that matter so federalism is an insurance against colonial style assimilation which could conceivably threaten many great cultures that only exist in Ethiopia. Who among us would like to see the great language and culture of Amahric assimilated into extinction? Who among us would like to see the great language of Oromiffa assimilated into extinction?? For me on language policy or unitary form of government is the root causes of all evil if the right wing want to promote as a substitute to federalism then you know that is just a dream that will never ever be realized. In fact I don’t think the current federalism goes far enough to address the language issue. We should be like Switzerland, Belgium or Canada where they have multiple official languages. What does that exactly mean? So we should have Orimiffa, Tigrigna, Amharic and Somali as official language for the entire country. Say what you will about TPLF but the right wing extremist are no substitute to TPLF/EPRDF. Yes the federalism is imperfect but we will not go back to one language, one religion, one flag right wing nightmarish situation. Never again!!! The Ethiopian people will not be used as a guinea pig for modern day empire building. Demanding a respect for your language and culture and seeking greater political autonomy is not tantamount to Nazism or evil and wanting to develop a region of your birth isn’t evil. I would actually be troubled if Tigrayans didn’t care for their region, if Oromos didn’t care for their region, if Amharas didn’t care for their region these things are very intuitive. Seeking to tab even a single glass of water from the Nile will always be provocative so spare us the lecture on this one.

NO to colonial style slavery and cultural suppression that demonized and vilified and marginilized many ethnic groups. Your records speak for themselves, you cant be trusted on this issue.

Selam Le Ethiopia!

Unity in Divirsity!!!

Mr. Ababya,

Bebefore saying anything I would like to remind you that banging on Tigray 24/7 wouldn’t make the Ethiopians rise against the government of Ethiopia. The fact of the matter is every nation is doing what it can to alleviate the burden of poverty in its backyards. Amharas. Tigres, Oromos, southern people whether they live in the country or abroad are contributing to their respective region’s development. That’s why Meles is loved and respected all over the country. Calling Meles, one of the greatest leaders Africa has ever seen a “Tyrant” shows you are one of those who lament the lose of their power and privilege because of what Meles had done. A tyrant dies with all the honour and the privileges he had set for himself. Tyrants don’t rule from beyond the grave. Meles is doing just that because of the monumental deeds he left behind. I am not here to defend Meles. His contribution to Ethiopia, Africa and the world is being defended by millions of people and intellectual circles. Instead of concentrating on where Meles was born you should be looking at what he has done for the country.

• Honoring the verdict of the International Court of Justice over Badme dispute
• Border demarcation with Eritrea
• Meeting the demands of secessionist dissidents
• Unconditional release of all political prisoners
• Opening up of the political space
• Honoring the constitution in regard to freedom of expression, religious freedom and the independence of all pillars of democracy
• Abject poverty; intolerably high unemployment, especially among the youth
• Rampant corruption of top TPLF/EPRDF leaders
• Runaway inflation coupled with depreciating currency
• Provocative Mega Dam Project leading to bankruptcy and regional instability

You listed the following as “nightmare tasks for the GOE. Actually, they are all your nightmares. ’s
a)The Badme and border demarcation issues are not your problems, They are EPLF’s problems. They created they and they have to solve them. By being overtly concerned about Badme you are telling us where your allegiances are.
b)You are free to call the ‘journalists’ political prisoners but you must make it clear whether your article is an intellectual discourse or a party political protest.
c)If you accept the constitution accept the whole of it not only the articles whose adherance further your pursuit, ie, the overthrow of the EPRDF.
e) The political space has been open for many years. The only people who are not allowed to partake are those who ae working day in and day out against the interests of the Ethiopian people in alliance with foreign powers.
f)If you were not busy worrying about the equality with diversity federal system being rooted in Ethiopia, you would have noticed that what is going on is tackling [poverty in all sectors of the economy.
g)As for inflation I think someone has already told you that the only thing the current government hasn’t done is hang all traders who are hoarding items of consumption waiting to sell at higher price.
h) Corruption- with out saying anything on this issue, I will qute you this, “Sishome |Yalbella, sishar Yiqochewal” wasn’t created by Meles. Corruption is something the country has been suffering for centuries. The question is what do you think should be done?
i) As far as the dam is concerned, you reveal which side of the fence you are standing. Again another wise saying,"Hilm teferto saytegna aytaderim". Ethiopians are determined to see the dam completed, come what may. Incidentally, this is the scaremongering tactics anti-Ethiopia elements are using to stop Ethiopia using one of its natural resources.

I thought I should explain to you why I think your ideas are rubbish and have no value in advancing our quest for understanding what is going on in Ethiopia.

Gragn Ahmed aka Woyane is evil (visitor),

Inane of your own history, heritage, and religion, you insulted the Ethiopian Christian kings. Regardless of your shameful Islamic origin, you wrote:

“ Please Ethiopia writers forget about christian Kings. They were very partial leaders.”

The fact is it was one of these Christian kings who accepted your destitute, frightened, and persecuted Muslims, members of the false prophet Muhammad. Here, a fagot Muslim, like you, is advising the Ethiopian writers never to remember the glorious histories, legacies, and heritages of our Ethiopian Christian kings. If these Christian kings were indeed partial ones, they could have completely driven you out of their Christian kingdoms and sent you to your desert land, Mecca, where you came from. Instead, these glorious Ethiopian Christian kings sheltered you, protected you, and fed you. You are an ingrate and deserve to leave our Christian country. We love all our Christian kings and their Christian legacies they left for us, and we will protect them from the decadent Muslims like you. You cannot smear the precious names of our Christian kings and Christian heroes.

Every time this nick name appears on the comment sections preceeding an article sized comments full of hatred and fairy tales, my mind dipicts an old man aged 70 plus born in Gojaam or Gonder or somewhere up north and raised up as debtera not learning bible but listening to countless myths: such as ‘ the Christian island, Ethiopia ejjochoan wode lay tanesalech, the solomon arc. During silassie regime somehow obtained a visa and travelled to states, before even visiting other Ethiopian counties ( perhaps spent a day or two in Addis before he flew to states). after residing 40 years in states he has managed to learn how to construct a sentence in English, but the debtera mentality is still intact. perhaps he needs to migrate to another planet to ditch the debtera mentality and start living with the reality and appreciate the importance of coherency, logic and reasoning.
So let him enjoy bragging about his imaginary Christian state in his final years before departure to his final destiny. he advocated over internet for mass murder of Muslims, but this doesnt mean that he has the gut to do it himself. he might try it if he can execute it from distance, but confrontation with Muslim, no unthinkable, not even with 8 year old Muslim child

Eritrea Vs Tigray

Eritrea: 120MW (no plann)
Tigray : 320MW (400 planned)

Eritrea: Assab is closed and deteroriaating, Assab
Tigray: Ethiopia is building a new port at Tadjourah in Djibouti, which will serve Tigray

Eritrea:Asmara-Massawa railroad (The track gauge of 90 cm is too small in today’s world)
Tigray: Among the major railway constructions is the $3.2 BILLION USD railway connecting the City of Mekele to Port of Tadjourah

Conclusion: Tigrai is implementing over USD $ 5 BILLION projects while Eritrea is investing less than $250 Million

Tekle, now you know why you come to Ethiopia though you dont believe that you are Ethiopian. You came to help Ethiopian ethnic groups fre from derg is my ….

If you were independent country already in 1988 then it is difficult for me to accept what you are saying specially in 1991 all the tigrians who came from tigray were so poor, thin, with thorne clohts, bad hiegine. But the tigrians who deported to addis they were normal, clean, nice cloth etc.

So if you compare the data i gave you and compare how you were in 1988 (i think that was worse than 1998) then though you are not Ethiopian as you mentioned then every body is agreed now why you come to Ethiopia. At least there is food and opportunity for development. So man respect!! Don’t shit where you eat or on what you eat. In other words don’t be shabians.

Eritrea forecasted to be fastest growing economy in Horn .
Saturday, 12 May 2012 06:30 By a STAFF REPORTER Hits: 3643 . .22 Comments
The annual publication of the IMF, World Economic Outlook, has forecasted the Eritrea economy to be the fastest growing in the Horn of Africa in 2012, registering a real GDP growth of 7.5 percent in the period. Released on April 17 the report indicates that Eritrea’s growth would be driven by strong mineral export, agricultural output and infrastructural development.

The forecast also shows that the GDP growth of the neighbouring Ethiopia would be 5 percent for the period in question, a decline from the 7.5 percent of 2011.

The report further anticipates the consumer price index in Eritrea to go down to 12.3 percent in the year from 13 percent from in 2011. The data also shows that the real GDP growth for the year 2013 will continue at 3.4 percent but forecasts the country to actually experience negative real GDP growth of 3.2 percent for the year 2017. At the same time the forecast puts the figures for Ethiopia at 5.5 and 6.5 percent, respectively for 2012 and 2017.

According to the data of the Central Statistical Authority (CSA), the headline inflation for the month of April has gone down from its mid-thirties figure of the past couple of months to 29.8. According to CSA, the decline is marked by the major price change in the food basket of the consumer price index due to high agricultural harvest recorded in the year.

On the other hand, regionally, the report said Sudan’s economy has shown a decline of 3.9 percent last year while it was also expected to continue the decline and do it big 2012, which is to decelerate by -7.3 percent. Following the secession of South Sudan, a major shock to Sudan’s oil revenue and recurrent conflict with its southern neighbour is said to be hurting the one strong economy of the Horn.

The gift of Ethiopian kings to their children:

1) A country with all sorts of culture, religion, a fantastic gathering of people who never say yes to colony.

2) A country with a sea access.

3) A common language which connects more than 80 million people.

4) A civilization from rail road to airlines, telephone, sport and culture a key to communicate the international community while millions Africans were still under colony.

5) A symbol of unity saying i am an Ethiopian

6) ETC.

Nobody is perfect! But they have done to the best of their grand children. They have done this hundreds years ago. There must be always possibilities for modernization. But what ever they couldn’t do in their time couldn’t be considered as non democratic or backward. At least we can not compare their achievement standing here in 2012.

We have to remember also the million Ethiopians which ever ethnic group they belonged and they sacrificed their lives, knowledge and wealth to unite Ethiopia. Without these people we should not be together for the good or worst.

It is easy to destroy and difficult to build.

Thanks to our grand fathers; the teachers, soldiers, doctors, pilots, farmers, kings, businessmen, the unionist in Eritrea, etc

A lot of shouting and foul disgusting comments by many about the article. Why is that so? It seems like, that some of us are saying this is the one and only rightious way forward and all other opinions are discounted and dismissed at a glance.

When the same people talk about democracy and at the same time turn around and shout like this, makes me wonder what would happen to this same article writer, if he lives and writes openly in Ethiopia?

The individual who wrote the article presented his views based on the available sources and historical evidences and it is upto the rest us to check out the facts and respond appropriately, than just throw a personality attack smear campaign.

The fact and reality on the ground does not lie, it is or it is not! There is no shoild, could and would in real life.

Try to prove or disprove the presented facts and realities and do not try not to defend the undefendable fact by throwing personal attacks. As the saying goes, do not shoot the messanger!

It can be hard to know what to do or write when someone makes a thoughtful remark, that is contrary to your convictions, but try to make a concerted effort to disagree without insulting. That’s how every body can be a winner and come out of the banana republic mentality.

All I can say is, take a moment to gather your thoughts before writing anything, no matter how much the article may have stung.

Peace to ALL Ethiopians.

Thanks for your heartfelt, sincere and encouraging article. I am with you all the way. God is on Ethiopia’s side.

Ethiopians have learned and found the truth despite the fabricated, deliberated, deceitful and divisive propaganda carried out by both from within and outside of Ethiopia. Ethiopians knew that Unity is the best thing for Ethiopians and Ethiopia.

No Ethiopian will benefit from weakened and dismembered Ethiopia. This form of a country is always sought after by predatorily foreigners because it makes conditions easy to prey upon and rip off the resources of the weak.

A good example will be Congo today. Because of the abundant resources in Congo, the Rwandans, Chinese, the WEST and all kind of people from outside are ripping off minerals, gold and resources by making the Congolese weak and at war with each other and in disarray. The Congolese have lost their peaceful way of life because foreigners are preying upon them.
