Ethiopian Man wins $238,000 in Virginia Pick 4 Lottery

Thanks to those four digits, in that exact order, Alemayehu Yonas is $238,000 richer - and it all started after winning $25 from a Virginia Lottery Scratcher.

Yonas originally won the $25 off a Scratcher he bought from the 7-Eleven on South George Mason Drive in Bailey's Crossroads to purchase

Lottery is the most addictive form of gambling. Believe me I’ve been there. And I still play power ball and mega millions. It is ok if you can play wisely according to your affordablity. But sometimes you might be carried away like our brother here. It doesn’t worth it. It makes you believe you have all the winning numbers, and keeps you spend your money everday for ever.
After all, I’ve come to the conclusion of that, lottery is not random, rather fixed and controled game. It is a form of funding public services, school etc…without the govt feeling guilty.

Please, after taxes, it won’t be enough to send one kid to college few years from now.

If he’s a smart cat, he’ll first buy affordable roof over his head, before chasing habesha “business” dreams and losing it all.

Do the right thing, brother.

first of all congra and good luck upon using the money wisely!

“… to help put his sons through college. He also gave $2,700 to the clerk at the 7-Eleven” The former could be a holy ambition, yet with the latter the guy has surely committed his first mistake which makes easier to anticipate his destiny.

Would i be surprised if i read a quarter milliner become cent less a short while after!

Give some money to ESAT wow hahaha that has to be the funniest piece of crap advice ever Mr. Truth! Give money to a useless derg supported biased news network? Theres a drought and a National dam project and you idiots think of donating to ESAT?

This is why morons like you are better away in dc than back with the population in Ethiopia. Your selfish parasitic way of thinking is harmful to our society. We Ethiopians need assertive strong minded Ethiopians who put our interests first.

To addis zemen thanks for the useful advice from someone whos experienced the painful side. Try to steer as many of our Ethiopian youth onto the right track as you can with your life lessons. You can prevent the losses of many souls and perhaps lives.

Lastly a simple congratulations to our countryman for his great stroke of luck.

A couple of years ago, this man offered help to a stranger. Some friends and I were passing by his restaurant when one of us just fainted in the parking lot. He offered us bottled water for free and allowed us to sit in his restaurant until my friend was fit enough to leave. Although it might not have cost him too much, I was touched by the fact that he offered help to a stranger(yet fellow countryman). There are indeed some good people out there even in these difficult times. Today, I am happy to read that he won the lottery. From the little I know him, he deserves it.

238,000 dollars is nothing for a publicity stunt of the lottery agency.
My suspicion grew when the lottery agency started giving their operation to private contractors by auction. The winner is choosen some one who can bring more profite. And these contractors are mostly a well experianced gambling and betting companies who are determined to make more money. They have a certain limit or quota “amount of money” to bring to the states, and on top of that they’ve to make money for themselves. This means to minimize the odds of wining to the public by some kind of fixation.
If I were mr Alex, I won’t carry that AD cheque for them. That’s a million dollar publicity right there. He’s gonna get nothing. And his wining is less than 150,000 dollars after tax. Only scrutinizing himself as if he won millions of dollars. Part of a mind game on lottery players.

እሳት ይብላህና ምንድነው እሳት? How can you advise this good brother of ours to put his money on fire and lose?
Rather, I would advise this gentle man to buy bonds for the Millennium Grand Dam in his home country. Do that my brother and donate some for free.
Thank you and God bless

You lair, got caught red handed. Typical Woyane cadre.
Ignore this Woyane bands called,
All along you were acting as if you were commenting from Ethiopia and cursing the Diaspora!

Now you are the other sickening Diaspora. I hate to count you as a Diaspora because you are TPLF cadre.

Why aren’t you in Ethiopia as you claimed to be?

What is your contribution sitting in the US and vomiting hate on the Diaspora and the 80 million unti-Woyane Ethiopians suffering in Ethiopia?

Your thief brutal Meles pushing them out to sell their land to rich foreigners.
