When Israel invaded their neighbors and in a couple of weeks destroyed its infrastructure and murdered hundreds of innocent children, women and men, their allies turned a blind eye and allowed them sufficient time to "finish" their job. The same seems to happen now the illegitimate government of Ethiopia has started its murdering expedition in Somalia. The fact that they seem to be able to conquer two important cities in two days only proves that the Militia of the Union of Islamic Courts never were a serious threat to Ethiopia. So because of this useless brutality thousands of Somali are without aid because the World Food Program of the United Nations had to withdraw from the battle fields. The fact that they are dependent on aid has everything to do with the behavior of the warlords that now call themselves the legitimate Transitional Federal Government of Somalia. The meddling of the leba government of Ethiopia did not make things any better, probably to the contrary.
Under the press smoke of the war in Somalia, the security forces in Addis Ababa are active to conduct yet another clean sweep. Already two young men died because of resistance against arrest. Television and radio are doing their utmost best to sweep up nationalistic sentiments but the population of Ethiopia is fed up with the tyrants. They know that this war is at least useless and will be used to suppress them even more.
Today- Thursday*)- is Gabriel and people go to Church to pray. Although the institute of the Tewahedo Orthodox Church and it’s leaders are hated just like the TPLF/EPRDF government, religion is the last personal freedom for a lot of Ethiopians. In times of trouble and despair they reach out to the metaphysical world. For the Muslims Friday the Id-Al-Adha (Festival of the Sacrifice) will bring them to the Mosques where they will find consolation.
*)Thanks for the nice comments of visitor melon. However, the mistake on the "today is Gabriel" was not Urael's but your editor for which my apologies.
