Will Ethiopia ban Newsweek's April 20 2009 Edition?
Newsweek's April 20 Print edition will not please Ethiopian authorities and I will not be surprised if the magazine is banned from Ethiopia at least temporarily. Already the pro-government websites are mum about the damaging article published in Newesweek.
Jonathan Tepperman, the author of the article, argues that America should rethink its relationship with Ethiopia's increasingly authoritarian regime. It accuses Ethiopia being unreliable ally to America and instead of helping America on its war on terror, the article argues it made the situation worse.
Will the Obama administration press the "Reset" button, in its engagement with Ethiopia? We will have to wait and see, but one thing is almost certain, stay tuned for a response from Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Embassy in Washington.
