idiots .First of all it's not Ethiopia
that serpasses Kenya .It's simply the
Kenyan economy itself that has fallown down
at the poorest african countries level.
Unfortunatly including Ethiopia.The reasons
of such desastours is corruption of minoroty
tribal mafia groups the same as the Tigrai
Mafiosos ,the destruction of the eco system
by uncontralable commercial based plantation ,like Flowers Production .
The agriculture economi field sacrified
for the sake of foreigners .Like the TPLF
bandits selling the farms for Arabs ,Chinese and Turkish so called investors .

This is not a sustainable economy. The government is corrupt and tyrannical. it does not allow free market economy to the people at large. The economy is run by quesitonable people who have benefited due to their affilation with woyane. The economic activity is largely "ayer bayer." there is no foundation to it. It is neither a goods producing economy nor service oriented economy. It is like a building built on a sand. Real economy is one that encourages citizens to pariticipate freely. Free economy is built by free people. To talk about the growth of ethiopian economy is like talking about the growth of drug trade. Both of them benefit only few people at the expense of the life of the majority.

I am kenyan and to be honest, i am thrilled to hear that ethiopia is doing well. Viva! my brothers and sisters. I dont really care about GDP growth - kenya had a nasty post election violence in 2008 - investment dipped, tourism and agriculture took a major dent and the economy is only now coming out of the doldrums. that we are registering any growth at all is god's grace. Besides, we are embarking on aggressive infrastructure upgrades (super highways and ICT) and are reoganising our politics with a new constitution - things will get worse before they pick up - that's what every kenyan knows. We have a vision for 2030 and are working towards it - in the meantime, all the other countries can overtake us all they want; instead, What i pray for is closer ties with ethiopia; it's a beautiful country and the 80million population will be a major boost for the east african common market - that's what i would tell menes if i had a chance to chat with him. Anyway, my hat's off again to ethiopia - you have done well and you deserve a pat on the back...

@hammere<br />
'Do not you know that GDP per capita grows as GDP increases?'<br />
<br />
Not necessarily. It might or might not, but it is a good thing anyway. <br />
<br />
Think of it as a 10 member family getting 100birr per yr, that will be the gross, and percapita will be 10birr. Now if the family gets 150birr the next yr, the gross grew by half, but if they added some members and are 20 now the percapita will decrease by a quarter(7.5birr).

<br />
I believe the progress that has been made sould be due to sound investment and economic policy. now what matters is our positive attitude towards the growing prospect of the economy. the idea shoul be how can we sustain this growtg? how can we benefit the poor? is it possible to keep the growth of each regions at the same pace? how can we balance that? sound economic policy and commitment in leadership have pivotal roles. coruption??? Africans cancer? I believe it is? no drugs invented yet for that.
