Band Aid Saved me but 25 years later my country is still hungry- Birhan Woldu
AS a baby seemingly near death she was the face of the Ethopian famine exactly 25 years ago yesterday.
Today Birhan Woldu is back on the world stage, working to save her country as millions more battle a NEW famine.
Birhan, 28, said last night: "I'm so very sad that people are going hungry in my country again.
"I know what it's like to lose someone. In the drought 25 years ago my eldest sister and my mother died. So many people died. But I was lucky, I was saved. Now I want to help others in my country to have the chances I've had."
