The Washington Post reports that the arrest of a DC Council staff on corruption charges stemmed from a corruption investigation of the DC Taxicab commission that began 18 months ago.
According to the Washington Post, the investigation began when Abdulaziz Kamus, described by the Post as a well known Ethiopian advocate for Ethiopian taxi drivers in the District, approached an official at the D.C. Taxicab Commission with a bribe. According to the story, Abdulaziz later started working as a government informant. Abdulaziz is not charged with any crime.
Abdulaziz most recently was executive director of the African Resource Center (ARC), which says its mission is to empower and amplify the voices of the African community for the betterment of the whole community.
