Ethiopia - Meles holds talks with Somalia president

Prime Minister Meles Zenawi here on Tuesday discussed with President of the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed on peace and security situation in Somali and regional issues.

Meles commended TFG president for its commitment working in unstable situation in the country.

However, Meles said political works should be done beside undertaking activities to ensure peace and security in the country.

The premier called for mobilizing the public and peace loving forces to fight the destabilizing act of Al shebab and Al Qaeda.

Meles noted that all peace loving force should work in unison for lasting solution for Somala.

Meanwhile, the premier held talks with Crisis Management Initiative (CMI) Executive President, Martii Ahtisaari same day.

Their discussion centered on peace and security in the horn of Africa, according to an official from the ministry of foreign affairs.

Meles briefed the president about the situation in Sudan and Somalia.

After the meeting, the CMI president, former president of Finland ,commended the activities of African Union to resolve problems in the continent

He said his organization is closely working with AU in collaboration with the African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD).
