Woy Addis Abeba,

We are good examples of hospitality and peaceful coexistence. And I am proud of it.
By the way, would the Somalians have allowed us to live in Moqadisho, let alone building our church there if we were in their place?

che,

while i appreciate and liked our hospitality and peacful coexistence, i am also wondering wether the woyanes have ever been concerned about the flourishing of Somali citizens in our crowded Addis or they are actually issuing pasports to them with out applying the land's rules and regulations for their own end in the later days. Amazing, Ethiopian citizens are living in constant fear and looking ways to get out of the country while the Somalis are building their home in the capital. lets hope, it will be one reason to strengthen the two peoples friendship, and creat trust between them.

Whyn't Che?
What do you want to pull out of it?
There are a lot of Ethiopians in Somalia and in Sudan.

Somalis are good people unless they find you cheating their wives. You must think twice before the somalias lady.
Otherwise they are very kind and open people.
Believe me!

I can't think of any other nations as welcoming as Ethiopians. Ethiopians never been forced by law or order to embrace other nationals. It is just our nature to welcome others. This has been demonstrated throughout history. In the past, Somalians preemptively declared war against our nations and brutally killed our people, but we were willing to embrace them when they desperately saught refugee. Our character and value of hospitality is exemplary. As long as they live in harmony with Addisians -- they are ok.

Please do not forget that the people living in Ogaden and in many areas beyond Awash river call themselves Somalis. They are also Muslims and can build their mosques in Addis, Nazeret, Dessie, Gonder etc. anywhere in Ethiopia.
Why don't we think of a bigger, wider Ethiopia with over 80 nationalities and more. I sense narrow nationalisim in many Ethiopians. That is not the way to go today in the world. We live all over the world, in many places as citizens with people coming from all over the world -Example USA,Canada, UK, Australia etc. The other thing is that over 50 per cent of Ethipia's population follows the Islamic faith according to World Bank statistics.

Let us think positive and not argue about church building or mosque building. It is every ones right to choose his line of faith and practice it any where. This narrow nationalistic attitude is what poleticians wants us to play, because they live for that, confusing people.

Have a good week end all East Africa.

hey guys why are you amazed to see somalis on the street of addis don,t you know there are ethiopians as well. or are you using you double standard by saying one time ogaden region is part of ehiopia and next time somalis are somalian.

I wonder whenever you mention ethiopia you think is christian country, where are the majority(muslims) of the country are they being coverd under the bed.

muslims should have the same right as the christians have in the country, and also you should remember 60% of the population are muslims.

Nasir,

Very good point! I support fully your idea, and for sure Ethiopia will become the way you wished it to be. Ethiopia is the home to the great religoins Christianty and Islam. The two religions lived coexisting with each other for centuries and I hope will continue to be like that in the future too. Ethiopia is a multi-ethnic state from west (Anuake)people to the east (Ogaden Somalis)people, from South (Oromo) people to the tip north (Tigre).

Ethiopia forever!!!

Nasir [Visitor], I do agree with you man. But I put the above point just for the sake of discussion. By the way, Somalians and Ethnic Somali Ethiopian nationals are different. My comment relates to Somalians. And I had in mind what they feel about us. By the way, the so called enmity that the western media say Somalians feel about Ethiopians came to me as a news. I did not know that. Do Ethiopians consider Somalians as traditional enemies too? I do not think so. But thanks to Woyane, now we have Eritrea also as our "traditional" enemy and "bitter arch rival". lol!

Ethiopia has been very receptive and kind to people from Somalia, especially in the last 15 plus years. The govrnment has offered to Somali refugees equal rights and opportunities, treat them the same as its citizens. And, there are about 2million such people/refugees/ enjoying these rights. Despite all this, there are some ignorant writers who depict the two peoples as "blood enemies", apparently brainwashed by the islamists.
The problem, if any is the irredentist policies of former Somali governments. Respect for the territorial integrity of each other is the solution forward. All the wars and disputes were provoked from the Somali side.
Hope peace and harmony will prevail between our nations.
thank you.

We Ethiopian are proud of our attitudes we treat well our Guests. Even Ethiopia sheltered the Prophet Muhammad who was wellcomed and became our guest in our Country. The king, at that time allowed him to stay till his enemy who betrayed him can no longer persuit him then returned back to Mecca.

That is why Muhammmad said in the Holly Quoran do not lay hand on Ethiopia. That useless Zewahari declared Jihad on Ethiopia against the wishes of Prophet Muhammad is he not a real Muslim or what. The Ethiopian belief is simple, " do not hurt our Country. Do not even think hurting our Country. If you do, even the weakest individual will turn in to the Roaring Lion and eat you alive. Keep your hands off Ethiopia, then we will be your friend for life. Yes we have seen Grazine Muhammad invaded our Country, burnt our Church. Have you ever seen a Christian Ethiopia attacking any Mosque No, because we are too civilized we are a tollerant people. Only Uncivilized people Kill, Burn Church, hates. etc

Nasir:you talk about Ogadeni being as Somalian not of Ethiopian in adition you also mentioned they(somalian)all're Muslims and can built mosques any where in Ethiopia? it may be true, but can they built a mosques in Axum?would woyane govt. would allow it?why not?i'm sure you know the answer of that.First:not all Somalis are Muslims there're 1%Christians is that a disapointing?well deal with it,second:you wrote as of you speak for Christians they also can built there Churches any where they wish in that case you aserted countries as such USA,CANADA but you forgot to mention SAUDI ARABIA where there're not a single Church in its kingdom let alone one prime example not all Christians allowed to built thier Church.Third:as for Islam i understood thru researches that i found out that Allah had three doughters preIslam time even Mohammed father he used to worship the pagan diety al-llah thier worship place at AL-KABBA(stone sacrifice place for pagan godess during Koresh and Hashimites in Mecca) and Mohammed father name was Abdu-llah(servant of god).

As you know Ethiopian-somalis are the 4th largest tribes or ethnic groups in Ethiopia after Oromos, Amharas, Tigres, and one of the fastest growing ethnic population in Ethiopia for obvious reason. now in my previous comment i said "people existed before boundaries created" what i meant is that boundaries of a country did not created on bases of who speak the same language, religion, tradition, etc. sometimes a country adapt some of those things afterwards. just because many middleast countries speak Arabic, the same religion or belong to the same ethnic background it does not mean they should have been the same country. if two or more countries' people want to unite for common interest is a different matter altogether. before Europeans came to Africa what was called "scramble for Africa" there were no modern day boundaries. for example, in the past most of modern Somalia ruled by Axumite, ottoman empire, Egyptians, some sultanates and clans leaders etc. at different stages. so almost all Africans and many countries around the world settled for modern day boundaries created by super powers at the time Britain and France in particular for their own interest. so i do not understand why Ogaden Somalis should be part of Somalia. Ethiopia is federal every ethnic group should be represented in parliament and has got every right to be potential leader of his/her country as a citizen. those of us who think Ethiopia is belongs to few tribes with or without knowing think again. every citizen is equal. This is my opinion

Dear all,

Reading the above comments one can see the different versions of ethiopia we hold in our heads.

After 1978 somalia accepted a flood of ethiopian refugees that was almost 1/3 of its population. That is eqivelent to ethiopia accepting over 25 million somalis into ethiopia. Of course these were somali ethiopians and oromos who are not seen in somalia as strangers but nevertheless ethiopians.

Yet manay ethiopians are complaining about few somali refugees who are mostly in the somali region.

The ones you see in Addis are either students from the somali state of ethiopia or people who are wainting to be processed by an embassy of a western country.

There are more somalis in Nairobi than in Addis even though the somali population there is only about 1/5 of the somali population in Ethiopia.

It is a fact that ethiopia means one ethnic group to some people, if this was not the case then clearly there are more ethiopians in Somalia than are somalis from somalia in ethiopia.
I don't hear them complain as I hear from many Amharas whos see few somalis in Addis as threat to their existence.

What is more the somalis in Addis are not taking jobs from the local people as the ethiopians do in somalia.

So before you write your comment think about which ethiopia you are talking about?

I'm not against muslim but these days I oftenlly hear that 60% of Ethiopians are muslims. what is their prove that backs the claim? The Predominant muslim states Afar, Harari and the Ogadeni, together 're not up to10 mil people.Tigrai & Amhara are a christian dominant states, Northern & western Oromia is populated with christians while the south & east part of Oromia is mainly Muslem, thus we can assume half of the 30mil,Oromos are muslem.
But still, 15m+ 10m can't represent 60% the Ethiopian population..

once again I'm not pro or against any religion I just want a credible prove.

thankyou
