Ethiopia to take part in CECAFA cup

APA-Addis Ababa (Ethiopia)
The Ethiopian national soccer team traveled on Friday to Kenya to take part in the Council of East and Central African Football Association (CECAFA), which will kick-off in Nairobi on 28 November.

Ethiopia has been taking part in this championship since its inception in 1973. Kenya will be hosting the championship for the first time since 1992.

The Ethiopian team was able to take CECAFA’s cup four times i.e. twice in Rwanda, once in Zimbabwe and the rest at home.

“We are expecting to be good competitors at the Kenyan championship,”said Sahilu Genrewolde, Ethiopian Foot Ball Federation (EFF).

The Ethiopian national team to Kenya comprises 20 players and supporting teams.

Countries of East and Central African are expected to take part in the championship.

Samuel yohanes,...

What has sport got to do with politics?
If you think there is no development in Ethiopia, think again in open mind and see what ever is going on in Ethiopia.
You believe it or not, it doesn't matter. But pm Melese is the most brilliant and great leader, who is fighting for the poor and for the development of our nation and the whole continnent Africa.
Watch him next week in copenha'gen on the international climate summit.

Addis Zemen,
Politics is the driving force of all social activities including entertainment. The way Ethiopian Foot Ball federation nominate players is mainly ethnic driven and and the coaches out there are political cadres who make sure that any one with different view is filtered regardless of their tallent.

Why do you think Brazilian Economy was boomed up in late 1990s ? Its all due to investment from their professional players from all over the world. These players were admitted to thier elementary training camp regardless of race, ethnicity and other profiles.

Come on don't tell me footballers are selected according to their ethincity. Do you think that makes sense? I mean I follow up all kinds of sports. Even back home if you ask me I will tell you about all the sports and athlets in each sport. The reason I say not to mix sport with politics is, sport is all for friendship.unity. health and peace. When you bring it in the middle of political discussiion it is not nfair.

Having read the attempted support written by some so called Ethiopians of Tigray ethnic group I am forced to write this small note. What kind of people are you who praise Meles inspite of what he has been comitting against Ethiopians. For instance just tell me why he refuses to return our hard earned properties while he his wife and other members of his ethnic group make so much property and money.
Meles is such an ignorant hard headed individual who commits crimes against the people of Ethiopia ND HOPES that he will not be affected. He does not even learn from his mistakes or the mistaks of other people who during the years claimed to be rulers of Ethiopia. For instance he has tried to creat his own ignorant uneducated new millionairesby giving them Free land and cash money to build skyskrapers to make it look like he has allowed the Ethiopian people to buid and prosper from prp[erties. Somebody please tell him that all this attempts to confuse the Ethopian people will not work. It may take time but we will rise once again and destroy him and his kinds. His sinicism or hubris will catch up on him soner or later and we will make him pay.The day will come when he will tryto leave the country with the mmoney he robbed the country and live like Mengistu but this system will not work for ever both him and Mengistu will hae to pay for what they have done to the Ethiopian people. Most important when Ethiopians wake up the time will come when both Meles and Mengistu will have to answer to us the Ethiopian people and nobody will save them. We will claim our properties and thrive again. Mark my word, when both Meles and Mengistu appear before a court of justice. they will both get their due justice.
Please remember that the Israelis should be an exampleto to the Woyanes when it comes to their accountability. Do you know that all criminals were prosecuted. Meles and Mengistu should realise that, that is what is awaiting them too.
Bye till next time.
