Ethiopia to trade specialty coffee locally

ADDIS ABABA (Reuters)
- Ethiopia plans to move the trade in its specialty coffee to an Addis Ababa-based commodities exchange instead of the current channel of selling the beans at auctions overseas, a senior trade official said.

Eleni Gebre-Madhin, Chief Executive Officer at the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) said up to 30 percent of the country's produce is classified as specialty beans but that higher prices for the fine coffees were not trickling down to farmers.

Coffee can rise itself and it can kill its owner. Under the current secessionist regime how can any farmer make a profit when the 1 gasha of freehold land given by the Emperor to every Ethiopian family is being neglected by alien interests because of selfish egoistic motives. "The fruits of the farmers labours must be enjoyed by him whose toil has produced the crop." Negus Haile Selassie, Long Live the Constitutional Monarchy! down with secession, Long Live Independent Ethiopia!

'The proof of the pudding is in the eating' – The ECX is remarkably positioned to garner benefits to its stakeholders – the Ethiopian farmers. Well done the lovely Dr. Eleni!!

Imperial Body Guard,
Your problem doesn't seem like u hate dectatorship, but u want some Amhara to be on top of the Government business. Pitty how some portray themselves as people who hate descrimination and tribalism, yet they are number one advocates of those ideas. Go to hell with the freakin feudal Haile Selassie.

you are an absolute denkoro to say you are pro-Haile-selassie and comment about the farmers. When your ignorant Negus Haile-Selassie was in charge of the country, the farmers were slaves with no name and identity. They used to be called chestegna (slave). They used to be owned by the Neftegnas. The referafi of the nefetegnas are collection of spinless opposition in DC today. Farmers in Ethiopia are better of today than anytime in the history of the country. Go west and south of Ethiopia, farmers have access to banks, electricity and clean water, - some even have satelite dish, fridge and trucks. As much as, I hate Mengistu for killing some of my own family. I thank him for suffocating the little bastard faggot king with his own stinky towel in the basement of the palace. Educate yourself first before you talk about the stupid monarchy. they are/were useless paracites. www.oromopeopleunite.

K Gheda MSP, Negus Haile Selassie had worked vigorously to do away with the feaudal system and bring to Ethiopia the best that the modern world has to offer. Some provincial landlords failed to heed to the Emperors demands, that "All should have an equal share of the wealth of Ethiopia according to their individual labour and toil." As your views are wrong and baseless along with the minority of secessionists whom like to reward evil for good, 35 years of corruption couldd never replace 3000 years of glorious history through the Solomon Dynasty. "The pages of our country's history shine with the deeds of soldiers, who, in the spirit of heroism inherited from their forbears, fought in a just cause and for the preservation of peace, as well as those soldier-statesman, who-in time of peace- laboured for the preservation of humanity's great ideals and values." Negus Haile Selassie, Long Live the Kebra Negast! Long Live the Solomon Dynasty!
