Ethiopia - TPLF Owned Guna to begin Coffee Export

Guna Trading House Plc, which is owned by TPLF, Ethiopia’s ruling party, said it plans to become one of the nation’s biggest coffee exporters, raising concern among industry observers that private industry may get crowded out, according to a report by Bloomberg news..

The company began shipping the beans in July and aims to export at least 12,000 metric tons of coffee in the year through June, Mulualem Berhane, general manager of Guna, said in an interview on Oct. 22 in the capital, Addis Ababa, Bloomberg reports.

“We are intending to export to Europe, the U.S. and China,” he said, adding that Guna is among at least four other companies owned by the state or Prime Minister Meles Zenawi’s ruling party intend to expand in the industry.

I never thought that we Ethiopians could be so unfair and so callous to our rulers (especially the PM and his wife), who live at the verge of utter poverty and yet we accuse them for being rich and for living an exorbitant lifestyle. Why should we blame them for the poverty of our people and the famine that affects millions of Ethiopians, while they themselves are equally suffering with our people, if not more?
This is a very good example of a ruling family that is so near to its people, that they share its poverty and its pain. Ethiopians are so blessed to be ruled by this couple, that other people should envy their good luck.
At least the first lady spared as from the big agony, because she did not say that her family is also as hungry as are millions of Ethiopians. From what I remember, this video was taken a long time ago. If it had been a recent one, she might have told us that her family is suffering from shortage of food, as are six million Ethiopians.
Nevertheless, she does not loose hope. Despite her poverty, she has a big asset, sitting right next to her, on the shoulders of the PM, his unique brain, which she is going to auction in the future to amass millions if not billions.
If somebody has to lie, it is better that that person is an expert. She is embarrassing the office of the PM of Ethiopia. Last time we saw her bizarre character and her inability to come to terms with the important position of being the first lady, was in front of Barck Obama and journalists.

Political, economic and military domination of Ethiopia by TPLF/woyane is with us for the last eighteen years. Nobody knows for how long it will continue. Nevertheless, let us not make the mistake that these kleptokrats are benefiting the people of Tigray by robbing Ethiopia. They are filling their pockets and nothing more. The people of Tigray are simply enjoying the scenery of high rising buildings and factories, while the personal income of the ordinary people of Tigray has not improved much, of course, if we exclude TPLF/woyane members, who are part of the system.
The regime will not leave a stone unturned until the whole economy is in its hands. A government that is in power and is functioning at the same time as a business company is the main problem in Ethiopia. Such incompatible things, a ruling party at the head of an economic conglomerate, that functions without accountability to the law, occur only in dictatorships and in colonies. Unfortunately, Ethiopia has become a TPLF/woyane colony. As Britain was ruling and exploiting the Far East through its East India Trading Company, TPLF/woyane is doing the same thing through EFFORT.
Unless Ethiopians are united to face dictatorship, this phenomenon could continue for decades. Do not forget that it took centuries for Asians to get rid of the British throne. Ethiopians are at a crossroad. Either they have to continue as a dispersed nation and live under TPLF/woyane domination, for the coming decades, or they have to stand together and try to dismantle dictatorship and economic, military and political domination by a group of people, who have wounded Ethiopia on many occasions. Otherwise, we Ethiopians should not blame our fate, because the problem lies within us and not in our stars.

Dr. Eleni is talented technocrat. In my opinion, she is ambitious and wants to make something happen to her country with good intentions. But what I struggle on her efforts is that, her lack of due diligence on the environment she is trying to help.

According to the latest report on coffee exporting, Guna trading hopes to become the leading coffee exporter in Ethiopia. With a very simplistic view, Dr. Eleni’s exchange system became a vehicle to create a MONSTER and MONOLPOLY, basically out of nowhere in a very few months.
As the famous box promoter Don King used to say for the unexpected occurrences, “It’s only in America”, in this situation a monopoly could be created in a span of months- because “IT’S ONLY IN ETHIOPIA”.
As Dr. Eleni is trying to promote ECX as a tool to help the poor farmers benefit through open and free market principles; the reality is very far from it, at least for now.
So far, what most see is that the actual benefactors not ended up being the poor farmers, but the GUNAs and their associates.

I will repeat that CLEAR SEPERATION but in reality TPLF is owner, now a member and obviously management. According to their own rules Guna can’t legally participate in the ECX. But they wrote the rules so I guess they can always re-write them.

2) Find me one current government in the world whose leader OWNS and OPERATES several business started up with public money then going private? I just need one and you can shut me up. Don’t try to use Hugo Chavez since he nationalizes companies he doesn’t have his wife sit on the board or become CEO.

3) This week TPLF took $500million loan from the World Bank (yes loan which YOU and YOUR children will have to pay back with interest) to assist in feeding the 13million Ethiopians which are starving. With all these profitable companies owned by the government, why would they need the loan?

4) Not all Tigray people are benefiting from this. There is an elite group that is but a majority are poor like the rest of us and they didn’t choose this.

I'm glad I'm noticed that I made points that make you restless as a loser nefTegna. However, I have no intentions or agenda to see Ethiopia divided. If supporting ethnic cause by exposing your nefTegninet for generation makes one a divider, let it be. And that's why Ethiopia is where she is today, for failure to admit what is at stake. One thing I am now seeing with regarding to TPLF's monopolizing every sector is that, let them do what they want to do. I mean, let them invest on ethiopian land including Tigray. It does matter except not-fair distribution of wealth in the whole Ethiopia, the investment will not go any where. But, people of Ethiopia need to worry only, if TPLF is trying to take the money and the investment out of Ethiopia. Otherwise, as they now control every sector, there will be time that they will loose every sector for the sake of Ethiopian including Tigray. Thus, fox, we need to be patient and wait God's time.
