History-Shmistry. When was the last time you saw anyone feeding on a country's history. I think Ethiopians should forget about how good it was 3,000 years ago and focus on how good it can be 20,30 -50 years from now and try to work hard to achieve it, by first making sure that the Northern cancers are gone and then central and southern Ethiopians working together by getting rid of corruption, controlling population explosion, reforestation, educating the young,.... to build a future.

Yeha and others, why are you ganging up on ZXAmiche all the time he write correctly about Ethiopia? I read what he wrote over time and he knows much about Ethiopia than most in this forum. It is impossible to deny the role of the orthodox church in keeping Ethiopia an independent State. The curch have helped to develop an acceptable culture by any standard any where, whether it is in terms of marriage or what to eat and not to eat or the code of conduct...whether it is in dressing or all sorts of manner...I have travelled in many African countries and i found out Ethiopia have the most well developed coulture acceptable by any civilized person any where and this cridit goes directely to the orthodox church, to be honest the orthodox church contribution to the emergency and survival of the Ethiopian state are innumerable.

The main reason why Ethiopia was able to repulse all kinds of invaders is becuase of the orthodox church, the Ethiopian peasant fought against Islamic inveders or European colonialist mainly for his orthodox Ethiopia than any other reason and were able to defend it.

The problem with the orthodox is it refused to reform according to new develpments hence it not only outlived its importance but also become a negative force in the modern world. One of the most surprising thing for me was when i came across Max Weber's "The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism" in which he traced the develpment of Europe or the growth of Capitalism to religion and i wonder what went wrong with orthodox to not lead Ethiopia to development.

Wathcout of comments that are so critical in questioning the validity of Ethiopian history which is actually the history of Ethiopian orthodox church. The most deadly enemies of Ethiopia are revolving around this question and its answer will define their existence. I am speaking of the bastard state of colonialism and arabism:Eritrea.

To the surprise of Ethiopias enemy the litreature of ancient history, the Islamic world, scientific findings on the ground acknowldge and speaks Ethiopian history with the most adorable words than any other oldest states in history. Ethiopian historyand Orhodox history is identiacl and the most formidable and painfull reality to no one but to the bastard state of Eritrea and their allies who are enemy number one of the Ethiopian people and truth and history but, yes the orthodox church outlived its importance because it refused to move with time.

Finally I always enjoy your constant reference of constitutionalism and the last Ethiopian monarche, yes you are absolutely right Selassie I is a great man for giving his people a constitution without even the people asking for it. History have already recorded that.
