Global Airline Pilots Not Happy About Israeli Security Program

Pilots of commercial airlines that fly into Israel are expressing increased opposition to a security program imposed by the country’s Ministry of Transport that they say could subject inbound flights to possible attack by Israeli warplanes.

Last week, an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 flight to Tel Aviv was intercepted as it approached Israeli airspace when pilots failed to correctly submit a code confirming their identity as required under the security program. The plane was prohibited from landing until it was determined not to be a security threat.

On 07/22/10, I remember reading one article entitled "Is Ethiopian Airlines losing its Midas Touch?" on this website in which the comment continued saying ""The most recent embarassing incident involves a pilot "failing to transmit the correct code" to identify the aircraft while entering Israeli airspace......"".Similar problem which the Delta airlines also encountered, as explained in the New York Times, is sending a warning signal which other airlines pilots could also face. The safety of all passengers should definately be given the higest priority.

so as it goes, as some of us were doubtful on the errs of Ethiopia's pilots, it was not the mistake of our pilots. Our pilots simply diplomatically said, it was a complex flight system, they had actually hinted either the complex flying system of their new jets or the complex civil aviation of the country which keep the air space is difficult. Caution and Safety measure is great but it must be technically adept-able by the pilots, as the Isreali Pilot association chief says.

You criticized our beloved ET last week for problems over Israeli airspace, but NY Times clearly indicates global commercial airlines all say problem is with Israel policy.

ISRAEL has every right to defend its air territory by any means and the KUUTTARAM Weyannes PILOTS should FOLLOW the CODE in order to get pass.
Israel is in constant terrior attach,any time they exepect an air attach from any where and that they do not want to happen so ,take my advice! FOLLOW the RUEL then you are OK, but if you mess the RULE you end up in hill.
Untill now it is the weyannes Adigrat Pilot with no basic training flow to without using the code like if they were driving a mekele BUS.
These Kuttarms are the shame for ethiopian airlines.

nazreth shouldnt have concluded and blame the pilot or EAL as they did. obviously the problem here is the nervous wreck jews who think every one around them is about to kill them. by the way i dont understnad the wisdom behind asigning a pin number to pilots who are flying into the occupied territory of Palestine aka israel. whats the purpose, if some one hijacked the plane he will also have the pin number and enter it when requested. but i believe their reason is to allow only certain pilots and prevent others which is ridiculous to say the least. if they are so worried and afraid maybe they should start talking peace to the palestinians instead of bombing them.

The new Israeli security system is unnecessary, one that can lead to a shooting down of a plane full of innocent passengers. All pilots who fly to Israel including EL AL/Israeli Airlines pilots must do all they can to stop this complicated system, if Israel wants to implement it against the will of pilots, all airlines that fly to Tel Aviv must boycott it.

cest moi senait, you idiot shabiya, Ethiopian pilots are maginificent who are well educated. As I told you earlier weyanes do not fly an airplane. Most Ethiopian Airlines pilots are hired in the 1970s and 1980s long before weyane took power. No matter what Israeli security is, it can not be allowed to introduce such a dangerous rule, first was the American Delta Airlines then Ethiopian airlines to be escorted by a fighter jet to the Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv. Israel must abide by international norm, if Israel continues to make things difficult for pilots then every airlines who fly to Tel Aviv must boycott it. No passenger and crew ought to loose their lives for a stupid rule.
