SECRETARY CLINTON: Well, I’m very pleased to welcome the minister here. Ethiopia is a country with which we have very long ties, and have, in recent years, developed a very close working relationship on a number of important issues. And I’m looking forward to speaking both with the minister and his colleagues, who are here on a very important delegation to the United States.

FOREIGN MINISTER MESFIN: Well, Excellency, I’m very pleased to be here in Washington. Relations between Ethiopia and the United States are traditional and understanding. And I’m also confident and with full trust that my visit this time would be extremely fruitful in touching base on issues that are of crucial importance both to the United States and Africa and in Ethiopia.

SECRETARY CLINTON: Thank you, sir.

FOREIGN MINISTER MESFIN: Thank you. Thank you so much.

An excellent message indeed both of them have. Ethiopia and the United States are working together for a number of issues and part of that it shows Mr.Seyoum is in Washington D.C, right at the moment.

Teltafi diaspora what do you say? what happens your excellency ato Mekonnene with his dead (HR) 2003? I thought he was working hard day and night to block an Ethiopian delegation whom is coming to the U.S as well as Aid going to Ethiopia given by the U.S,government? I guess it does not working does it?

You are absolutely right that the foreign policy of Ethiopia towards Eritrea is abnormal. The way the Ethiopian government handled the international dispute settlement with Eritrea is just unbelievably funny. I don’t understand in the first place why Ethiopia opted for a claim commission instead of going to the Security Council or International Court of Justice, it is also unclear for me as an Ethiopian why the Ethiopian government choose to a secretive dispute settlement with Eritrea.

Ethiopian government agreement to solve the problem by establishing a clime commission with Eritrea is a sign of Ethiopia’s interest in looking for a friendly settlement. This is not the way a country invaded and defeated an aggressor behaving in any international dispute settlement. I was recently comparing the way dispute settlement was handled between the Quite/Iraq and the Ethiopia/Eritrea war. What Quite got was a Security Council resolution condemning Iraq as responsible for the way and damages and then the establishment of a commission for compensation from which finally Iraq was forced to pay $ 55 billion out of the huge claims Quite made to the commission, comparatively for the massive loss of live and property and for the over all damages the Eritrean aggression caused on Ethiopian related business such as Ethiopian Airlines and private business and many others including international organization and corporations is just $ 10.5 million. I have never seen any claims by the Ethiopian government for the abduction of Irob civilian citizens by Eritrean government who are still remain in captivity.

It is just funny the way Eritrean climes was collected in Eritrea, any Eritrean was allowed to make a clime against Ethiopia without any evidence to the Eritrean government which was finally submitted to the commission and this all was happening with the Ethiopian government awareness and agreement and comparatively the reluctant collection of data of damages on the Ethiopian side by the Ethiopian government is another indication of how the Ethiopian government is not serious about Ethiopian interest when the issue is related to Eritrea.

I strongly support the Ethiopian government in many of its policies but when it comes to Eritrea my position is it should be removed from power without delay. It is absolutely true there is something seriously wrong about the Ethiopian government when it comes to Eritrea. This is not how an Ethiopian government foreign policy should be towards an enemy fake state.

Guys don't you see why he is there? Meles sent him to start the DCTX (DC Tax Exchange). He is going to appoint Yitbarek Syume as the CEO so he can make sure all bribes and control of taxi licences and plates goes through the DCTX.
