World Cup Trophy arrives in Ethiopia

Source: ENA

The World Cup Trophy arrived in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa later on Tuesday.

Senior government officials including Youth and Sports Minister Aster Mamo welcomed the trophy upon its arrival at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.

Displaying the trophy at a ceremony organized at the National Palace same day, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said the World Cup is pride not for only South Africans but also for all Africans.

Meles recalled that the 8th Summit of African Heads of State and Government has decided that the World Cup is also pride for Africans.

The premier said the ceremony is an event to show partnership with South Africa.

Arrival of the Cup carries special meaning to Ethiopia and its people as the country is one of the founders of the Confederation of African Football, he said.

Aster on her part said arrival of the cup ,which is the top award in international football tournament, is a good opportunity to the country and its people.

On behalf of the FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter, the FIFA delegation head, Headi Hamel on the occasion lauded the welcoming ceremony .

The cup will head to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania on Thursday afternoon.

The World Cup is touring 53 African nations before the commencement of the 2010 World Cup Tournament next year in South Africa.

We've come far from cow bladder and wegesha to aerodynamic inflatables and chiropractic. At this rate we'll keep the trophy homebound in a year 4590 when me manage to defeat Sao Tome and Principe.

In a cermoney in Addis Ababa when Meles approached the World Cup Trophy it was visibly seen when the Trophy bend to bow to PM Meles.

The news is spreading like fire throughout the country, people are saying probabably he is a born leader while others are suspicious he might have a blood lineage to King Solomon and Queen Sheba but the Chruch's position is clear and distinct asserting that this should be a message from God and we should anoint him as Emperor of Ethiopia as soon as possible so that his sons and doughters will keep leading us in peace and prosperity.

Meles and his colleagues love Gold. How come they did let it go to Tanzania easily? Or are they sending the real World Cup? I hope it won’t be found to be fake when it arrives in South Africa, just like the Gold that turns out to be fake in the National Bank of Ethiopia.

I want to summarize the previous comments that I enjoyed most;
1. I am so glad Algerians qualified beating the arrogant Egyptians.
2. Our players failed Standard physical test because of being too skinny.
3. Weyane has a bad track record of sending fake golds to South Africa so watchout FIFA.

When was the last time the national team of(Ethiopia) has been a contender on even the continental level? please do not tell me the East African competion as noteworthy.
So when Meles Chenawi looks at the trophy, he might think if he can steal and sell it for extremely hard to get foregn currency!!!!

I am against these a few MERCINARY Weyannes who happend to be from Tigre province and other parts of ethiopia whose REAL agenda is to KEEP us In BEGGERIESM and distroy our UNITY. That is one of the reason and .....

Zerayakob Yared,

Correction, Weyannes is not = MALELIT.

Weyannes, thou regional in nature, they had some good people among them. Thou regional in their fight, they were among one of the major groups who gave Ato Yesera bet lij a one way ticket to Harare. On the other hand, MALELIT is nothing but in your own words, SIGIBGIB GIB. Therefore, bowing down to the wise words of C'mon senait, I would go even further, and squarely put the blame of Ethiopia's current malaise on MALELIT.

For those, who missed the formula we came up with few weeks back, a minor reminder, :))

MALELIT = Ye Meles zerafi dereget.

SIGIBGIB GIB = Members of MALELIT

EFFORT = Blood sucking tool of MALELIT

ETHNIC FEDERALISM = MAIN TOOL used to keep the blood sucking tool EFFORT.

This is the core of our 18 yeras of torment, you better believe it. Lelaw hulu madamekia new. END

Shewarega,

My purpose was to give a hint to c´moi senait, that she has to say MALELIT and not weyannes. That means, exactly like you are saying it. So both of us (me and you) find c´moi senait comment in here above very good; the only correction we have got, is: to say to her respectfully "pleasec ´moi senait, it would have been better to say MALELIT instead of weyannes"

Thank you Shewarega and c´moi senait !

Z Yared,

I understand, its all an evolving learning process for all of us. At least, for those who want to learn and change/improve. I used to see all Weyanae in the same eye too. But I want to give you one example. Recently when MALELIT was giving up sovregn Ethiopian territory to the Sudan, the Prime Minister tebeyae said that his regime was only returning land that was taken from Sudan in the 1996 skirmish. Of course, he is master of lying, never run out of things to say. But that brought some questions in my mind. What is this 1996 skirmish? How come we never heard anything about it? What was the cause and reason for it? Did the skirmish really happened? Those were the questions I was asking myself. I dug deep and tried to inform myself about it. The truth was that the Sudanese were passing the border and appropriating fertile lands, they realize the regime in Addis was friendly to them that most of the rebels now in power once had their base in the Sudan. This land grab is nothing new, a good family friend, once governor of that awraja, told me they have tried to do it even from the Imperial days, that it was a constant fight, to keep them out. But this large incursion 95/96 was met with a strong and decisive response from non other than Hayelom Araya. He chased them out, returned all the stones (border markings) to there previous place and restored the honor of our country. He might have once robbed the Bank in Axum, one might call him Woyanae this and that, for me when I read that none mattered at all. His father was a patriot, a true Dejazmacth, not some fake Italian Hashker. And his action proved, no matter what his political believe he did care about the country. My friend, how can I collectively view him with this no good, evil, hater, keffafay, SIGIBGIB JIBS that are currenlty in power?
